An even earlier start today. This is the last day of filming. There are a lot of shots to get today and Jon and Val have a job on their hands. In order that the finished video looks good, a lot of planning must go into how it is all shot.
The whole food fight was choreographed in a very detailed way. Myself and the mischievous girl were the first pie candidates.
The first pies were thrown just before lunch. We had to fight behind Neil as he sits, oblivious to what 's going on around him, untouched by a single piece of food. The first pies were so satisfying.
Earlier had been spent finishing off food shots, Dougie getting whacked in the face with a massive ball of spinach was a highlight. He was on one side of the table and on the other side was the 1st assistant director packing a baseball of spinach. Dougie nearly broke his nose when the guy threw it. His reaction is amazing.
Anyways I had the pleasure of pushing the first pie into someones face and then had one thrust in mine. The mess these things make is quite mindblowing. It took half an hour to clean it off my face. The cream was so rich as well. Really heavy.
After lunch EVERYONE got pied. Even Jonathan and Valerie the directors got pied. Their kids came down to the shoot and demanded that they wanted to get a pie in their face. So Jonathan pied each of them in turn and when that was done the kids wanted to get their mum and dad back so our directors got it as well. This was filmed as well. The kids looked so funny.
I pied Nora as well. She was upset because I sort of missed her face but the look after she got it was worth its weight in gold. So the day went on in this organised chaotic way until the last shot which was a full scale pie war. What a buzz!
When we got back to the hotel we ordered some room service and when it arrived I nearly picked it up and threw it. I keep having to hold myself back when I see food.
Thanks to everyone especially Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris for inspiring total abandon.
