I can explain most of what is going on there. The Village People were a disco group popular in the 1970's. There was the Indian, the construction worker, a policeman, a sailor, a cowboy.
Y.M.C.A. stands for Young Men's Christian Association. It used to offer low-cost overnight stays, meals, etc. for men only, but now it is mostly an exercise/fitness center.
The Village People targeted a homosexual audience, many of their songs being about men; In the Navy, Y.M.C.A., Macho Man, etc. Thus, the audience seen here is a bit flamboyant with their "exercise" clothing.
Hope that helps explain it. |

Like most of the 1970's...no words for it. You're better off not knowing.
P.S. Y.M.C.A. is one of those dances people like to do at wedding receptions after everyone is drunk, along with the Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey (or Cokey as some call it). |
