For me, it's been a blistering year for music, but these would be my choices:
1) Battles - Mirrored
2) Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
3) LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver
4) Dinosaur Jr - Beyond
5) Grinderman - Grinderman
Just curious as to what other people's choices are on said topic? |

CSS, definitely. Apart from that, I think TBWNN is the only "new" album i've bought this year :os
Of the other albums i've bought this year, my favourites are Bjork's 'Debut', 'The Warning' by Hot Chip, 'Through The Windowpane' by Guillemots and 'Trouble' by Ray Lamontagne |

Travis - The Boy With No Name
Idlewild - Make Your Own World
Carus & The True Believers - Three Boxes |

Good choices, that man! "Debut" is an immense piece of work, extraordinary in its warmth of melody, whilst still being challenging in its arrangements and moods
"Venus As A Boy" is a particular favourite, though "There's More To Life Than This" is fantastic, too
As for "The Warning", I've not properly gotten into it yet, but it was bought on the back of many recommendations and "Over And Over", arguably the best single of last year
P.S. Saw CSS in the Barras. I couldn't believe just how much better "Let's Make Love" could be live, it just sounds huuuuuuuge! |

I've only bought three new albums this year which are:
1). The Boy With No Name
2). Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worse Nightmare
3). Kaiser Chiefs - Angey Mob
All have been good.
Albums I have bought recently which aren't technically new but which are new for me are:
The Blue Van - Independence
Embrace - This New Day
The Kooks
I would definetly recommend The Blue Van (A Danish Band). I saw them supporting Jet and was very impressed. I didnt know any songs by Jet or The BLue Van before hand and I have to say I was probably more impressed with The Blue Van.
This New Day is the first Embrace album i've bought and I was also quite impressed with this. |

Andrew, Andrew, wonderful Andrew, at least it's clear that it wasn't the mass media that told you who it is correct to like!
Damn good bands, Justice and The National. Literally only just started getting into The National! |

The exact same for me. Had seen their name about for ages but never got round to listening. Really glad I have though 'Fake Empire' could well be on my end of year top song list
Just thought of a couple more:
Au Revoir Simone : The Bird Of Music
...and not listened to it enough yet by Wilco's new un seems pretty good.
Making it to either Connect or Indian Summer this year? |

Indian Summer definitely, but Connect just doesn't have a good enough full line-up to justify the cost
So far this year, though, it's been mind-blowing for gigs in Glasgow. Seen Clinic, Blurt, Battles, Nine Inch Nails, Mastodon AND still have Boris and Sonic Youth coming up. Kick on!
P.S. Wilco's new album is utterly rank, unfortunately |

Hey, the National are from My hometown. Because Cincinnati is Awesome! I should get into them. Hehe, I like the few songs I've heard. Anyway, I'd like to contribute but Alywyn's put together a damn good list.
I'll just add that I've been Enjoying the Peter Bjorn and John Album, Mother Mother, Kings of Leon, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club albums.
