They are starting with a brace just on his palate not the full train tracks because of his age and then we'll see what's next. He's still got some of his milk teeth so I suppose they're limited with what they can do.

Kayte, I had major work done to my mouth too. When I was a kid, I could stick a toothpick between my two front teeth on top and it would stay there, lol. Not only that, but when they took an x-ray to see how my wisdom teeth were going to be growing in, they noticed my only baby tooth left on top wasn't falling out because the adult tooth was growing sideways along the inside of the roof of my mouth instead of straight down...I know...gross. So they decided to surgically remove my wisdom teeth, pull the baby tooth out on top and create a little hole on the roof of my mouth to expose the sideways adult tooth . They gave me braces and put a bracket on that sideways tooth and somehow actually got it to twist down and into place. It was hell....but it all paid off and I have nice teeth now! :D

are you a grown up now ?

Depends on how one looks at it. From a strictly dental point of view, yes. Although I only have one wisdom tooth. That kinda speaks volumes, doesn't it?

My son has to have a brace fitted this year and he's petrified - I find it very hard convincing him that it's a good idea and that he'll thank the dentist in the end!

A few years in braces while you're young is more than worth a lifetime of looking like a crazy jack-o-lantern the rest of your life. Tell him women like men with straight teeth.

Haha, he's not into women at the moment (at the tender age of 9, he still thinks they're a foreign species!) but good point anyway.

My son (10 years old) just had xrays of his jaws taken, and we'll be going to see a specialist in June. I bet he'll end up with braces and the works.
I was lucky, didn't need braces, but instead managed to break a front tooth when I was about 9. I had a silver coloured cover on it for years before the dentist decided the tooth as going to stay and they built a new tip for the tooth. You can guess the names I was called because of that cover...

I promise you that today I dreamt about going to the dentist cos I had a tooth that was falling off (one of the front tooth), I was so sad, real sad I’d say cos I was losing my tooth. So I went to the dentist and I saw my dad there, so I asked him how did he pay for the dentist. That was it, I think it is a warning, cos I do have to go there because 1 of my front tooth.
Think it’ll be over soon, and Sing, Sing, Sing!!!! For the cavity on your tooth won’t mean a thing and less you Sing! Sing! Sing! Sing!!
