| Beautiful cover. I was really sad when i read that Alex died. :( I got into Big Star after i heard Travis cover of "Thirteen" and really fell in love with their music. Amazing band. |

| I only just found out that he was 16 when he sang The Letter with The Box Tops! That voice was so mature and full of emotion it doesn't seem possible. I grew up hearing that song on the "oldies" station my parents loved. He will be missed. |

Oooo, nice!
I'm familiar with the Box Tops, but not so much with Big Star. I can't get over how different he sounds. With the Box Tops is so much more husky. I never would have put the two together. I had to watch a YouTube video of him singing The Letter at a festival to merge the two voices in my mind. Digging into some deeper Box Tops today...really cool stuff! More than just the 3 or so hits they play on the radio. I really like I Met Her in Church |
