Bob Dylan ...band was tight and Bob manage to crack a smile but he revamped the songs so it was tough to reconize em . I had heard he could be a zombie live but he deffiently moved around. He only interacted at the end to annnouce the band . My friend works at the venue and his office is the former backstage where all the bands sign their name ...I couldn't find any Travis sigs though

Sleep

Saw SLEEP last night .LOUD !

Pretty epic . Before they were playing there was a big image of Tony Iommi from the 70's and the sound guys was just playing a compilation of sabbath guitar solos only . They played Holy Mountain in sequence . Matt Pike stuck to that weird 9 string guitar he uses with High on Fire . There was a video image playing in the back drop of space and weeed plants . To me the sound was way better live because I think the bass has a slightly weird tone on the album . They had some guy in a astronaut suit smoking weed do constant walk by's between songs . Now kinda like the GRATEFUL DEAD they did this constant tune up between songs and the lights would go dark .....Very Grateful Dead-like . The openers black cobra were fantastic , hell of a drummmer . not too crazy about the vocals though . The middle band Saviours were pretty horrid generic metal .

Band of Horses: They rocked! Omg.. I have listened to this band for a long time. But i had no idea that they were so F****** great live! From the moment they played the first chord everyone was on fire. It was a concert I'll never forget. They are brilliant! Band of Horses is one of the things you need to see before you die :) 10/10

A-ha: The first songs they played were a bit boring, because they weren't so different from each other. And after a couple of song there would be some song you thought "yes!... no..". My sister told me she had been attack by a butterfly that day. And you know when some one tells you that while A-HA is playing 10 meters from your nose, you know what i mean. But then they played a hit ( hunting high and low ). And from then on it became better and better.
One of the highlights was when Anneli Drecker came onstage and sang "Crying in the Rain" with A-ha and the backing vocals in "The Living Daylights.". A-ha waited to play "take on me" until the end. I think that A-ha was good, but not as good as I had hoped. Anyway .. 6/10

The Prodigy: Scary, scary, scary... it was awesome! totally bannanas! I don't know what to say. 10/10 !!

Last gig I saw was Muse, Editors, Band of Skulls and Pulled Apart By Horses at Lancashire Cricket Club. Absolutely amazing gig. It started with Pulled Apart By Horses who weren't great vocally, they were a bit more of a screamy/shouty band but their charisma, stage presence, energy and just wildness was hilarious and made them so entertaining to watch. Band of Skulls were good, they came out to a decent cheer but by the time they'd finished their set the cheering had increased a lot, I think they gained a lot of fans that day. Editors were amazing, I wasn't really expecting a lot from the support acts as I had never heard of the first two but I had heard of Editors but had never really got into them, I'd only heard Munich and hadn't really looked into them but I was very, very impressed and they gained a new fan, I ended up popping into HMV a few days later and noticed all three of their albums were in the two for 10 offer so I got all three of them along with Foo Fighters' Greatest Hits, another band I thought I should really pay more attention to. Anyway onto Muse, it was exactly what I expected and more, everyone expects Muse to be over the top and they were exactly that, I never expected them to go on a platform and go over the crowd though, they were top notch and the whole gig was incredible so yeah I guess I'd have to give it a 10/10, no complaints at all!

Guided by Voices

Dak would be proud they brought up skyline chili . They drank 4 cases of beer and bummmed about 3 packs of smokes throughout the show . It was a Bee Thousand heavy set and Tobin sang alot more songs then I expected but a few from propeller and Alien Lanes were played too . I was surprised no Over the neptune /mesh gear fox . The band was tight enough and loud .

Openers new times vikings were good but had the misfortune of arriving only 15 mins before the doors opened . Their sound suffered .

Openers the radar bros , from LA , did a very dreamy pysch ,country pop . Never heard em before but I liked em . The main event kicked off with the traditional opener start again playing a set of new songs and a decent mix of songs off the other albums. Songs from 13 were not played , my only very very slight complaint. Band was tight loud and extremly in a good move . The closing numbers were off the top , Raymond playing fantastic guitar breaks .....They're on their way to Seattle , then Portland before heading over to south korea . catch em if you can

Brandon Flowers in Madrid. I went to see him cause I missed him when he came with his killers friends last year. It was a brilliant gig although very short (just one hour). His voice is amazing, I really liked the concert :)

The Vaselines

Openers , The Dum Dum Girls I had never heard of . A all girl band who played old school sears guitars and sounded a lot like Jesus and Mary Chain s first album . Great drummer . Rock steady . The Vaselines were milling about during the openers set so it was a nice touch to see them watching their opener. The Vaselines , playing with a slightly different line up , no Belle and Sebastian members this time , were in fine form . They played a mix of the new album and old . The high hipster count in the crowd of course responded to the 3 songs Nirvana had covered. I was glad Monsterpussy was still being played myself . A pit erupted towards the last third, bodies going down . I think the band was surprised that happened . I hope they keep at it .

The Flaming Lips (supported by The Raveonettes)

10/10!!! Gosh, where do I even begin!

1) Wayne getting into a giant space bubble and walking all over the audience
2) Confetti cannons, giant balloons, confetti IN giant balloons!
3) An army of people wearing orange fuzzy costumes and dancing on stage
4) A man in a bear suit hoisting Wayne on his shoulders
5) Wayne with giant hands shooting out laser beams
6) Crazy strobe lights/Wayne even had a strobe light strapped to his chest!
7) Wayne wielded a tube gun that shot out streamers
8) Wayne and his bubble-fronted acoustic guitar giving the impression the guitar is from outer space!
9) A megaphone that spewed pink smoke
10) Crowd sing-a-long to Do You Realize?

Pretty standard stuff if you've been to any Lips show before. But for a first-timer, it was magic :')
