The Automatic - Might sound more like music if they didn't have that little gobshite who screams random syllables in the backgound! |

U2, definately U2. They came up with one song (and a simple one at that) that capture the spirit of the moment, and since then keep shovelling shit "songs" with about 4 different power cords.
Bill Bailey, in his magnificent Half Troll show, simulates a technical problem at a U2 concert...true, so true. |

disagree. "how to dismantle an atomic bomb" is a pretty darn good record for a band that's been around for nigh on 30 years. they're long in the tooth that's true but they can still bring it sonically in my opinion. |

Counter argument, one word: Vertigo.
Explanation: Power cords, shit lyrics, shit video. My brother's written better songs than them.
Furthermore, if they've had 30 years experience, they should be serving-up classics, not hoping on the "trend train". There's a big difference between reinventing yourself and copying modern music that was crap anyway.
To quote Dylan Moran "You're work is so...derivatory. Your work is shit. It's shit because you copy my work and my work is shit to begin with!" |

I really like U2, there are numerous good songs,
Octobre, Desire, Beautifull day etc.
And have the capacity, guts (and money) to try new stuff (ZOOtv etc.) It might not be there best work, but at least they try. Bono could do with a little les Popeness, i admit.
Oh and they look feckin'good in Anton Corbijns pictures/video's.....what's that?...ah not a musical argument?......oh bugger |

well, to denounce a band on the basis of one track from an album is a bit much. but hey if you don't like 'em, you don't like 'em. no worries. |
