Call me w-e-i-r-d, but I love watching the National Spelling Bee (finals are on tomorrow BTW). Funny thing is that it's aired on ESPN (sports cable channel). Most of the words I've never even heard of, but it's fun to watch these kids. It can get annoying when a kid asks for the pronunciation like 15 times, and manages to repeat it wrong each time...it's probably a stall tactic!
Anyway, I remember in 5th grade my teacher (Mrs. Smith) MADE me sign up for the school spelling bee. I totally did not want to--I was super shy and going onto that stage mortified me. I blew my first word...HEIRLOOM. Maybe it was my way of rebelling against the teacher who forced me to enter against my will. |

One of the signs of summer is the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
I love the documentary Spellbound. |
