As per our very interesting conversation on milk. Here is how milk comes in Canadaland
In a bag

Inside this bag you find 3 bags of milk

You put your bag of milk in a milk container. Mine looking like a cow. Hanging off it is a little contraption that cuts the bag open

I dont have an examples of a 2 litre carton, but I just happened to buy a litre of chocolate milk yesterday. So, 1L carton...

Oh yes, and everything is labelled bilingually

This ends Professor Kristy's very exciting lesson on milk packaging in Canada! Hope this was educational.

I have another question. Do you pour the milk into the pitcher or do you leave it in the bag? I saw this picture:

and it made me wonder. Is that the way most people do it?

stays in the bag.
You put the bag into the container and cut off the end so you can pour it into your cup

I dont remember doing it any other way.
Just tired to find research and one dude said its been here for atleast 30 years.

OOOOH, that is Ryan! I missed that in the chat, Anne. Ryan is longwinded. Get to the point man! Jeez, he is annoying. Nikki, don't listen to Anne. Dont take Ryan the milk bag
man.

edit: In trying to research the history of this, it seems that everyone pretty much thinks this is crazy, but...it seems completely normal to me. And apperently it is also common in South Africa, parts of South America, and is being introduced in the UK.
And since more than one person on some forum + Kayte asked, they dont easy break. Ive definatly dropped one before and they dont just explode. They are thicker than say a ziplock bag. And apperently Canada is the 10th largest milk consuming country per capita. the things you learn! And, the bagged milk isnt readily avaliable in Western Canada. Shame.

He was really funny though.

Milk came in bags in Finland around 1960's, maybe still in the 70's, but now it comes in cartons.
Milk bags were a popular craft ingredient, people crocheted rugs out of them.

Since I didn't grow up with this it seems weird to me but I am guessing it is more environmentally friendly? If so then that is a very compelling reason to follow our Northern friends' example.

And Ryan's hair is sexy.

Ryan's hair is possibly the least sexy thing i have ever seen in my life, lol. Anne, we don't need to share Ryan. He is ALL yours!

Yup, it is recyclable.

It's alright. Everyone thinks we are crazy. This is just one more reason.
