I'm Moray. (Like Bill Murray). I'm named after either a district / body of water in the north of Scotland or an Eel. Depending on who you believe

Are you serious? This whole time I've been thinking it was pronounced like MORE-RAY.

They must have really liked it to name you Annie Anne Anderson III

AND you are Anne with an E. Like Anne of Green Gables!

Yes can you believe they even changed their last name so it would include "An"???

And being kin to Anne of Green Gables does up my coolness factor indeed. I love that Anne girl!!

Lauren, I had no idea your first name was Laurence and not Lauren.

Dedicated parents you have!
Aww, you said "Anne girl." I love that Anne girl too. We should have an AoGG viewing party. How uncool/cool would that be? Followed by Moulin Rouge!

actually, you're right - conventionally my spelling should be pronounced just like that, like a Moh-Ray. It's just, for whatever reason, I've always had mine pronounced Mur-ray. Just one of those little idiosynchrosies.

My name is Alma and I like it. It means "soul" in English, "anima" in Italian... Anyone know how to say my names in another languages?? That'd be something cool to know ;o).
Though sometimes here on the board Juli calls me Almond, and I like the nickname too... a lot :o).

This really made me laugh

My name is Anne.

My parents just liked it. That's all.

Ok my given name is Steven, I don't mind what I'm called though, Steve, Stevie, Stevo, Stiofan, Etienne, Esteban. Although it does piss me off when people change the spelling to Stephen without even asking especially banks, government bodies, etc.

I think it means "Crown", my Mum and Dad picked it because it was unusual at the time, obviously several people had the same idea there was 7 of us in my school 4 in my class.

My surname is much more interesting it's Judge which is an Anglized version of Brehon or Brehony the original Irish is Breitheamhnaigh, This comes from the original common law or brehon law of the land, A brehon was an early magistrate or judge. My great grandfather came from Sligo and when I researched the name of Judge a few years back it turned out that the name of Breitheamhnaigh actually originates in Co.Sligo and Co.Mayo there are still quite a few Brehon's and Brehony's there to this day.

You cannot translate your name, you are translating the word ALMA ...

Anyway.
Alma in Icelandic: ímynd
Alma in German: Seele or Gemüt
Alma in Polish: dusza
