Are there any decent Horror films out there ??
The Omen (666) the remake is sh!t.
Texas Chainsaw is a gick remake
Watching the Hills Have Eyes at the Moment (remake)
Stuff like Mandy Lane and Jeepers Creepers is just p!sh, Saw & hostel were ok but why can't they leave a half decent idea alone instead of bleeding it to death (pardon the pun)

I'm glad someone brought this up. I was thinking about making this topic last Friday.
I'm more afraid of thrillers and films with suspense then I am horror movies, you know? But I am a sucker for zombie movies. Gore porn like Saw & Hostel, not so much.
- 28 Days Later, because it kind of redefined the zombie genre. I love the way it was shot, and the scenes with London deserted were so great.
- Shallow Grave, another one from Danny Boyle. I like the set up, and I think it works because none of the characters wre exactly likable in the beginning so you don't really know who to root for.
- Se7en, I get the creeps just talking about it. I love the art direction in this film. I think it's made very well.
- Invasion of the Body Snatchers (I like the original and the 70's version. Nicole Kidman one... not so much), so scary. Because you don't know who's one of them, and you catch it by going to sleep.
- Wizard of Oz, this is scary and you know it! Don't deny it. I've seen this movie so much (being from Kansas) and those horrible monkeys with those horrible vests... *shivers*
- Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, I think this movie is so underrated because it has a lot of hidden funny moments. But the scary part is the tunnel ride where it looks like a acid trip gone wrong and the technicolor tunnel is filled with all of these weird student film shots.
- The Sixth Sense, is really suspenseful just because you know you're going to see ghosts, but you're still not ready when the one girl pops up vomitting. Now as for M. Nights most recent works...
- The Last House on the Left, this needs no explanation.
I'll think of some mo'
On Bravo they were showing this 5 part thing called, "100 scariest movie moments" I thought the list was good because it had movies that weren't exactly well known, and they had a lot of foreign horror movies and they ranged from early silent movies like The Phantom of the Opera to more recent movies like Scream. Here's the list. |

- 28 Days Later, I'll give you this it is quite a good horror
- Shallow Grave, more of a thriller rather than a horror for me. Eccleston was brill McGregor was sh!t as usual, fucking only in it for eye candy for the ladies
- Se7en, Again more of a thriller for me. But extremely well shot, atmospheric and realistic, some people ar just bad bastards, also if you push a "good" person enough, How long before he snaps
- Invasion of the Body Snatchers- Worth it alone for Donald Sutherland turning into a dog at the end.
- Wizard of Oz, Not a Fan but like all good fairytales has a dark, nasty side
- Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, See above
- The Sixth Sense, I did like this even though about half way through I figured the twist. It's still enjoyable
- The Last House on the Left, Havent seen.
I'll think of some mo'
the Ring is also quite good, The Japanese version is slightly better than the American remake. again very well shot and atmospheric.

This is the description of Last House on the Left. It doesn't really do it justice. It's really horrifying. It looks like you're watching a snuff film. I can't... I can't watch this film anymore.
- Marathon Men, Nazi dentists. 'Nuff said
- Deliverance, don't make fun of the locals! Especially when the tooth count for the whole town is like... 7.
- The Wicker Man (original please), because the scariest thing was the beliefs of men, and what they thought was right
- Dawn of the Dead (original), even though the changed the ending. The first ending was suppose to have the girl putting her head in the helicopter blades, and the guy shooting himself, but instead for some reason the guy gets the will to survive and blazes out like gangbusters... WHAT??
- When a Stranger Calls (original, remake is crap), eek. Babysitting, NEVER AGAIN!
- The Shining
- A Clockwork Orange
- Vertigo. I saw Vertigo and Marnie within weeks of each other. At first I was pissed off because I was yelling at the TV, "THESE WOMEN ARE CRAZY! PUT THEM AWAY!" But I love Vertigo because of the last scene and how it's kind of a metaphor for falling in love.
- Psycho, *shivers*
- The Exorcist. This is how scary The Exorcist is: For those of you who don't know, by profile picture was taken at the bottom of the stairs of where the last scene was filmed. The scene where Father Damien throws himself out of the window to kill the demon. I went to the very top of the stairs and looked down the street, it was nighttime and it was dark. There were maybe a couple of people the street. I found someone to take my picture and as I was sitting on the step, and someone took the picture for me, I didn't know some other guy was behind me, and he suddenly said, "What are you doing?" And I freaked, he honestly scared the crap out of me. |

I love In the mouth of Maddness, uch a awsome film. Also check out any John Carpenter film. For recent films The Mist is a good movie with a messed up ending. |

I love a good horror / thriller / scary film. Although I'm terrible at handling them, I am a big girls blouse when it comes to watching them.
One's not on the list that I've personally enjoyed
- Silence of the Lambs: How can this be missed off?! The single most terrifying film I ever saw. It's Anthony Hopkins, but he eats people! The scene at the end, when Jodie Foster is in the dark and Buffalo Bill has NightVision. Terrifying
- Event Horizon & Alien: Not mentioned yet, but I love mixing genre's, and sci-fi horrors are a brilliant mix.
- Evil Dead!
- Shaun of the Dead. This is probably one of my favourite films. Top 10 definitely. I know it's probably regarded as a british comedy, but it's also an excellent Zombie movie in it's own right. |

How appropriate considering you are wearing a girl's shirt in your avatar. |

A good movie with a messed up ending? Don't tell me it doesn't have a happy ending. I hate the films with unhappy endings!
Another movie would be Stephen King's 'it' although I think that the book was better than the movie.
