- Only two people complained cus only two people were probably listening , Brand was always heading that way .
IMO he is part of a celebrity pack that makes us all look sick in this country. Keep him off the airways I say.
- Ross is different. He is smart as opposed to stupid and course for the sake of it. .IMO he has just started to deteriorate over the line and needs pulling back.
Two years or so ago in Jimmy Carr show on Boxing day the panel were all F'in . It was terrible to watch but Ross didn't join in . My respect for him went right up as Boxing day is a family time.
IMO -enough 'respect' has gone missing from this world and thats why things are so bad out there - for us - in every way. Check out how you get treated when you miss a credit card payment today?!!
Giving this stuff 'fame' just illustrates how far down we have come in society.
( I dont expect support here!)

I think the Western Civilization is a total mess and at the end of its cycle. Others have been the same way before, think of the ancient Egyptians, Romans… It'll take some time before the final collapse, but the downhill has definately started sometime ago.
I read in a column not long ago a very good thought about respect, how the word is nowadays mainly used by those who don't really understand what it means and haven't done anything to earn it themselves (but still demand it). (and I don't mean you, Somewhere Else)
Brand said in his apology something about respecting Sachs, him being such a great actor, but I think he was wrong in two ways there. Firstly, if he really respected the man, he wouldn't have done anything like he did and secondly the infrance is, that Sachs must be respected because he's agreat actor, but if he was just an ordinary mortal, there would be no need to respect him, and it would be ok to treat him badly. |

Yes , agree , we are virtually uncivilised - It just hasn't been confirmed. Some, in their Ivory Towers don't really know what its like out here.

Absolutely - Lip service! The man is the pits to me but even so they are all laughing their way to the Bank. The society of overpaid , so called celebreties, is disgusting and it makes them more disgusting the richer they get.I would rather be a tramp than a celebrity.
Having said that did you see Chris Evans visibly upset (about the controller resigning) as he left the BBC last night?. Shame that the word celebrity covers people like him.
ps Thanks Spid
EDIT : L think I would like to clarify that I dont like the way the word celebrity is used today as opposed to not liking all celebrities per se ; celibrity covers all famous people . Its just the way the word celebrity somehow conjures up a yuk image and so I prefer , artist , musiscian , scientist , actor
ps Have i dug a deep enuf hole ? :) |

Sorry, but I'm not joining this little wave of celeb bashing.
There is nothing wrong with Brand, Ross or Evans, on the whole. But they are a matter of personal taste.
A simple lapse of judgement has caused a storm (in a teacup, imho).
The prank calls were unpleasant and inappropriate. But they were a mistake, which both perpetrators have apologised for, and humbly so.
I really do not agree that satirical comedy is signalling the end of civilisation. Good grief, talk about blowing out of proportion!
Did you complain to the BBC this week by any chance?
One comment I agree on is that Andrew Sachs has been taken under the protective wing of the Mail because of his perceived "national treasure" status. They've kind of raised him on a pedestal, when he is just a man, who once, 30 years ago, played a Spanish waiter in a British sitcom.
Don't get me wrong. It was a great show. And also, he didn't deserve to be the victim of the prank. Nobody does.
BUT, he also failed to appear on RB's radio show at a prearranged time. He must have known the kind of humour that Brand specialises in, and that his minor faux pas was going to lay him open to ribbing.
I've heard the recording. In no way is this worthy of the attention it's been getting. And I think that Western Civilisation can cope.

I feel like writing a complaint to the bbc about Andrew Sachs, stating that his portrayal of a Spanish Waiter on Fawlty Towers is xenophobic and borderline racist and demand an apology.
And also, its a show that, if I remember correctly, used the word "Nigger" in a derogatory fashion and should be considered extremely offensive toward Germany as a whole, and could cause tensions with our good friends over there.
Or maybe not, since that would be ridiculous. |
