When and how did you get into the band?

I am a newer fan myself. I always remembered enjoying “Why Does It Always Rain On Me?” back in the day when I was in high school. For some reason the song disappeared after that time. It did not seem to have much staying power in my part of the world (Ontario, Canada). I never heard any other song from the band. Years later, I remembered that song and added it to my Spotify. This was around 2022. After that I added a few more songs of theirs that I checked out and enjoyed. It was only in 2024, when the Spotify release radar sent me their new singles for L.A. Times, that my interest in the band was peaked again. I ended up watching their music videos on YouTube in a huge rabbit whole. I fell madly in love with all the songs and the way that their humour and personality came through in the videos. Then, I listened to their discography on Spotify. I have been in love with the band ever since. Something about their melodies and sound just clicks with me on such a profound level.

Siempre pasaban Sing en la radio, pero particularmente me llamaba la atención el comienzo de sing con un eco un sonido extraño al comienzo así los conocí.Siempre supe de Travis pero no fue hasta este año cuando los vi acá en Chile que me volví plenamente consciente de ellos y su música. Disfrute tanto el concierto muchas canciones que tocaron ese día las escuche por primera vez y me enamoré de ellos. Después del concierto queríamos ir a celebrar y comentar todo cuando nos íbamos del bar una chica nos dice de la nada la banda! Están sacándose fotos con los fans! corrimos a donde estaban y veo entre la gente a Fran fue tan amable con todos muy paciente, nos tomamos fotos y se quedo un rato compartiendo nunca lo olvidaré 🙂

I got into the band in 99! Can’t quite remember what song however got The Man Who for Christmas and it snowballed from there my first gig wasn’t until 20/03/2002 Hall 4 SECC Glasgow as it was then. Seen them 19 times so really hoping for a tour soon to get the 20th!

I heard Good Feeling just after I got married in 1997 and finally saw them live in Brighton on my birthday in Dec 2001 ☺️
Haven’t stopped turning up for gigs since then !

I was playing in a band in the DC area. In 2001, our guitarist brought us “The Invisible Band” and told us to listen to it, maybe get some inspiration. Minutes in, I knew it was one of those life-changing albums for me. Started buying their entire back catalogue and went to every show I could afterward. Got to meet Fran and Andy when the Frandy Travis tour stopped at Jammin’ Java right when my wife told me she was expecting our first, and “My Eyes” took on a whole new meaning for me after that night. Every time they come to the 9:30 Club, I’m always there. Big thanks to each of them for their music, humor, and goodwill that have kept me going for 25 years. (I even found “Our Kid Eh” just for “Fuckin’ Around.”)

I love reading other people’s stories of how they became a fan! It’s so cute!
I was about 13 flicking through music channels with my mum when driftwood came on she asked it was left on and it all descended from that. About a year later they released Where You Stand and we went for a drive and listened to it together, from then on it became a tradition for us to go for a drive and listen to any new album.

Travis were the opening band for Oasis at Radio City Music Hall in May of 2000. Writing To Reach You was the second song in the set and I was a fan from that point onward, I found them to be so funny and charming in their between-song banter and the tunes were so catchy. I went out to buy The Man Who the very next day and Good Feeling probably a few days after that, found they were playing a headline gig at the Theater of the Living Arts in Philly like a week later, and 14 shows / 26 years later, here we are 🙂

I’m 19 and I grew up on the office. I watch it every day and have been for almost a decade now. Jim listens to Travis multiple times starting in season 2 I think. It plays in his headphones and at his BBQ. I started making a playlist of every office song a few years ago and fell in love with Sing and Side from the office. From there I kept exploring and almost every song by them ive heard so far is in my favorites

At 13 back in 2007 I was playing so much FIFA and Closer was a track on the new game that year.
It became my favourite tune of the game, and eventually my fave song altogether. I then realised I needed to hear more so naturally I downloaded the whole TBWNN album on limewire, which I’m proud to say I have since made up for as a responsible adult by purchasing all albums at least once (and some twice).

I can probably call myself a newbie to the band as well. Even though I joined the community around 2013, I know that many people have been with them since the very beginning.
I accidentally came across a fan-made collection of their songs online, mostly featuring tracks from The Invisible Band and The Boy With No Name, and I listened to it nonstop for at least a week! I remember thinking, “This is definitely the best thing I’ve ever heard!”. Then I discovered everything they had released before that, listened to it all, and realized that this was love.
A little while later, Where You Stand was released, and its title track became — and still is — my favorite song of all time.
So, to sum it up, I wasn’t here from the very beginning either, but I’m so happy that I found them. They are incredible and make my life, as well as the lives of so many fans, brighter than they already are. It’s their amazing superpower: giving us light, warmth, and soul, inspiring us to do good things and explore new ideas. I’m incredibly grateful for that.

More Than Us was played at my school disco in 1998. It was “the slow dance” (we were 12, so no one was slow dancing!) and I was blown away by it, the way it built into that wonderful crescendo was unlike anything I’d ever heard before. I loved it, and rushed up to ask the DJ what it was. He wrote it down for me. I held onto it and ordered the CD single at HMV that weekend.

A year later, The Man Who came out and, well… the rest is history!

I think it was around 2005 and my girlfriend at the time sat me down and made me listen to Side over and over again, cause she was learning to play the bass and she wanted to memorise it.
They sounded familiar, but I didn’t figure out they were the blokes that played Sing for a few days.
The girlfriend didn’t last. My love for Travis never faded since.

I was in high school when The Man Who was released. I still remember sitting in my best friend’s bedroom — the place where we spent countless hours hanging out, listening to music, and cutting pictures of cute guys out of magazines to tape on her walls, which were completely covered from floor to ceiling with posters and magazine clippings.
One day she put on The Man Who, and it immediately grabbed me. I fell in love with it. When I left that day, she let me keep the CD — which, to this day, I still have and never returned!
From that moment on, I was hooked. I remember sitting in computer class, looking up everything I could find about the band and printing out photos of Fran on the school printer. 😊 Then I discovered the incredible fan community, the message board, and eventually their first album. After that, there was no turning back.
They have been, and always will be, my favorite band.

I think this is a funny story. I really liked Why does it always rain on me when it came out. I don’t remember the year but this story occurs that year. I drank a lot of soda back then, mountain dew was my go to. Back then they did the pepsi points, I’m sure everyone in the US who was around in the 90s remembers the pepsi points, I don’t know if it was outside the US or not. Anyway, I had all these pepsi points And The Man Who was in their catalogue of goods I could exchange my points for. I remember there wasn’t really anything I was interested in, in the catalogue but I saw that album and I thought, well I really love that one and only song I have heard from them so I will get that and check it out. And oh my goodness, I fell in love with the whole album, first listen, and I have loved the band every since

I was 11, I saw them support the killers in Dublin 2 years ago and I thought they were amazing live so I checked them out and i listened to side, sing and flowers in the window repeatedly and then LA Times was released and thats why it’s my fav album because it was released when i discovered them. It was 2009, I was in the car listening to a radio station from Canada (93.9 The River. I live in the US, but close enough to the border to get Windsor radio). Why Does it Always Rain on Me came on and I just loved it. I thought it was a much, much older song for some reason. Like maybe from the 70s. A few days later, I heard it again. I went home and looked up the band on You Tube and I liked all their songs! I found my way to their website and clicked on the Message Board. It wouldn’t load. I tried again later. It wouldn’t load. So I tried one more time and just left the computer up for hours and hours. It finally loaded! I introduced myself and was “welcomed in” and the rest is history! When the next tour came around, I was there for it. Met the band, met lots of new friends who are now old friends!
