A blank message board. Not for long. Currently 1am. Venice is quiet at night. Sometimes I hear the waves even though the beach is a fair distance. And the planes taking off from LAX. The streets here don’t have streetlights. People walk their dogs with torches, or flashlights as they call them in Amurrka. I was told there were no seasons in California like there are in the UK and Europe but there definitely are. In October and November for instance, it gets really cool and misty at night. Then there are times when it gets really windy – around January, and all the palm trees get a free haircut. I’m writing. Trying to write. Now that Clay is in New York, I have taken over a bit of his room. It’s in the roof. I feel like nobody can hear me. I bloody hope they can’t. So where is everyone else in the world? It’s pretty exciting to have this up again. I feel like it’s a good time to have it back. Maybe we see some original boardies. And def new. Right. Well. I’m going to sleep… Good morning! 1:28am

Hi Fran, how are you? It’s nice to see people writing in the new forum. I don’t know if you were familiar with an Argentinian rock band called Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota. Their singer passed away last Friday. He was a very admired singer, both for his music and the content of his lyrics. He rarely used Instagram to stay connected with his fans, since he didn’t perform very often and didn’t give interviews. He commented on his fans’ posts more than once, and I thought, how exciting it is when someone you admire and respect feels close simply by being present with a few words, like you’re doing now. Here the days are cloudy and cool, and I’m particularly looking forward to winter because for me it’s the best time of year, as I don’t like the Buenos Aires heat.
I traveled to Chile in April to see you at the Coliseo in Santiago. I haven’t been able to get a picture with you for years. Could you grant me one the next time you come to Argentina?

Hi Fran! Love to hear the details about California – my niece just moved out there (Ventura) earlier this year. I doubt you would remember this, but when you and Andy were doing the ‘acoustical journey’ tour, I gave you a copy of a picture she (aged 6 at that point) drew of the band. At a second stop, you said you had hung it up in the tour bus – she was very proud! When my nieces were young and would sleep over at my house, I’d always put on The Invisible Band as they were falling asleep. Now my niece is in her early 20s and living in CA and has heard Travis playing on the radio a few times in shops and always texts me to tell me when she does. Thanks for listening to the music. It’s cool how songs are bookmarks to life. I love that Travis are still the same 4 people. It’s a closed circuit. Each record is the same people, a bit further down the line. Each song, for better or worse, is how they are playing together at that point. It’s always sad when band members leave. That saddest one for me is Gerry leaving Teenage Fanclub and Bill Berry leaving REM.

Hey, Fran! So glad to see the board back. Life has changed a lot since the last (and first) time I posted here. I’m still living in Mexico City -there’s a bit of chaos right now because of the World Cup. I am now a mom of a beautiful 4 year-old girl, and just went through a surgery last week. Thank for bringing back this space where I got to meet so many friends from around the world, it changed my whole life back then.

Hi Fran! Original boardie here. Joined while in NorCal back in very early 2000’s, then was pretty active while in the Netherlands where the message board was finally laid to rest. Now I’m back in NorCal for its revival! So happy it’s back, I hope to see some familiar names – I tried my best to remember my original user name and I think it was close to what I chose 😅

I’m back here! I remember very well being part of the forum and following the band from Brazil because it was very difficult to get information about them back then. Today, even with all the access we have to the internet, it’s no longer about all that, and it’s noticeable when something is false coming from influencers, algorithms, and people seem more passive, just watching. Creating images with words that run through our veins and become part of our DNA through music, in this fleeting world, is an act of resistance.

I attended the last show in Santiago, it was my second time seeing you live from the 2024 one. Santiago 2026 show was incredible, I had the best time with my Travis Chile Community friends, holding the Pipe Dreams sign that got into the band’s social medias ❤️ (my fav Travis song) Sadly this time i couldn’t say hello to you like I did back in 2024 in the airport. I hope you liked the 31 minutos comic, the Hello Kitty stickers and the red rabbit puppet (Juan Carlos Bodoque)❤️ hahaha I asked Dougie to give them by me.
Sometimes with the Travis Chile friends, I write a kind of Travis fan-stories (fanfiction) like what if we hang around with the band as we are friends hahaha
I still remember from the 2024 visit, that you helped me giving Nicky his card cause I couldn’t see him, I wanna thank you for that 🫂 He got it!! This year I finally met him!!
Also, I read on internet that Travis played a show in my homeland, Venezuela in 2008. I wanna ask you how was the experience playing in Caracas.And to finish, If you wanna to hear more spanish songs, I recommend Colgando en Tus Manos by Carlos Baute and Marta Sánchez.

I used to be a regular on the message board back in 2004. Made some friends from around the world. It was a great place to be.
Best gig I ever went to was at Palacio de los deportes in Mexico city. A lot has changed since then. I moved to the Uk and now live in beautiful Edinburgh. Managed to see you once in London at one of your solo gigs, once in Glasgow and twice in Edinburgh, at the odeon for the almost fashionable film and a gig at Edinburgh festival.
I have 3 kids now and I hope they can see you live some day, they’re still little so i’m keeping my fingers crossed. Please never stop making music. Long live Travis x -

It’s sooo weird to be back here. I’m Ana, from Uruguay, and I used to spend way too much time in the old message board. It was my safe space for a long time. I felt stuck and meeting some of the people over there encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone.
Since then, I’ve travelled more than I ever thought possible, I worked and studied abroad, I came back home, I had my dream job — until AI showed up in our lives — and I was forced to change career paths.
I’m still friends with boardies from way back when. We’ve met in person, travelled together, shared concerts and many, many chats.
My profile pic was made by another Travis fan from South Korea in one of our art exchanges and I love it so much that I never stopped using it. What I mean to say is that Travis is our constant in more ways than one and I’m just happy to hang around like it’s 2009! 😉

Afternoon from south West scotland! I live in the countryside so the slightest sound has me on edge… it’s definitely supposed to be summer but I don’t think summer got the memo as it has rained non stop all day. Juat sitting watching the first WC game. It’s no Scotland so do we really care…The board is a brilliant idea. I think the band are really hitting it recently.
The promotion of the last album was amazing. Singles released so that when it came Album time there was already a few favs. And the touring on the bus was excellent.
Felt like a band who just knew how to promote it, engage and get a real excitement growing towards gigs.Let’s do it all again. I’ll be at TRSMT next Friday guys if you wanna give Glass Onion another run out 🙂

I feel like Central Queensland, Australia might be a bit like California in terms of seasons. When I first came here as a baby doctor from the UK I could only identify stinking-hot-with-mangoes vs not-as-stinking-hot-without mangoes seasons, but I am seeing the subtleties over time. Glorious sunsets in the winter and the flattest, glassiest ocean over to the beautiful tropical islands.
But I do miss the cold just a little, although a cold rainy trip to Skye/Glasgow and Belfast at Easter reminded me what it is like to not feel your face again 🥶
Addicted to the video and song for Bus at the moment, since saw Travis again in Brisbane in Jan (previous time was Bridlington Spa with Keane – maybe 2005???) so imagining how cold the wind was for you guys filming there. Brrrr. That song makes me so happy and sad at the same time but I totally love it! And all and your hilarious videos.
Good luck with the songwriting Fran, sounds more interesting than the psychiatric report I have to write!
