WOW!! THE BOARD IS BACK!
I feel like there is no better way of starting that a bit of reminiscing, so…
If you could re-live just one Travis gig, which one would it be and why?
Mine would be Manchester Ritz in 2013, when Fran forgot the words to ‘My Eyes’, I sent a tweet with the link to it and he tried blaming it on a Jaffa Cake(!)
But generally, was an amazing gig which was the first time my little sister had seen Travis live!

Christmas Eve 1999 at the Barras. Sang the most beautiful version of ‘River’ and so my love of ‘Blue’ by Joni Mitchell was born. Plus, someone lobbed a cup of water onstage into the electrics, and Fran got a spotlight put on them and called them a c you next Tuesday lol

One of my favourite gigs was King George’s Hall, Blackburn on 21 June 2003 – with my heavily pregnant wife who gave birth 3 weeks later. Dougie still gave her a cheeky wink (she says). If she (Lucy Summer) had been a boy, she’d have been called Harry Travis 😳

Brought my daughter from NYC to Glasgow for the Christmas 2024 gig, her first concert ever. Seeing them in a massive venue like that was really different (the last gig I went to before that was the Fran/Andy show at Mercury Lounge in summer 2024, that venue is tiny and so intimate) and the cover of Mull of Kintyre (assisted by Santa and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers!) was super special.

Piece Hall in Halifax last year was an absolute banger but Glasgow SECC from 24 years ago packs a punch because it was the first time I talked to my gig buddy, partner in crime and all round good egg, Pamela. Since then we have seen Travis in the 3 figures (lucky to have been teens in the 90’s and lived in Glasgow).
Also the Glasgow SECC gig where my eldest daughter first saw Travis is a highlight as she now is one of the gang and inherited my space at the front, like it was an artefact from the Antiques Roadshow. I may be up the back on the disability platform due to pogoer’s knee but it’s still one of my greatest loves.SPOOKY- my youngest has just come in from school wearing a navy travis hoodie of mine from the millennium and I am so chuffed.

Mexico City, 2007, Palacio de los Deportes. One of the longest setlist they have played. It was mind-blowing.

Manchester Albert Hall 2016. The Everything at Once tour. I don’t know what it was about that night. I remember it being a hot and sticky May evening. The crowd seemed to be permanently hovering about 2 feet off the ground and the vibes were just great.

First time they ever came to Argentina: november 2007. It was a festival. First time I ever saw Travis live, terrific setlist. Probably my favourite gig of all times. I was lucky enough to be at the barricades and I hurt my knee against them. Of course, I was beyond myself with excitement and I didn’t notice it had happened until the gig was over and we were leaving the stadium… I had to limp for kilometers. It was totally worth it.

I think my favourite was Glasgow Hydro 21 December 2024 during the Raze The Bar Tour. The L.A. Times album was out and I was just getting into Travis at the time. The band were great that night and even brought out Red Hot Chilli Pipers for their cover of Paul McCartney’s Mull Of Kintyre

Relive!? I would just like to experience one! I’ve never had the pleasure. I had tickets to show the winter of 24, but I had to miss it because a blizzard decided to hit the east coast US, at the same time. With a three and a half hour travel time to get there, I ended having to miss it 🙁

BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the Barrowlands. It was just magical to see Travis play my favourite songs while accompanied by an orchestra. It will forever be in my top 3 gigs.

Travis Sound Academy Apr 21, 2009. Falling down sung in crowd right beside me. Incredible

November 8th, 2022. The Invisible Band Anniversary Tour at Webster Hall. First concert since the pandemic. Made a very last minute decision to fly in and see them. It was everything. Seeing them play “Happy” for the first time in my life during the encore was the cherry on top.

I have more than 1. Barrowland 30/12/2007, Liverpool July 2005 just after live8 got steaming on the train down from Glasgow. I’d also say the Liquid rooms gig in 2007 as well Amy Mac was on before them.

Oh David!
My favourite show, or one of many, is the first time we played in Mexico at the Sports Palace. We played for about 2 1/2 hours. We played almost every song we could remember. It was our first time in Mexico. There are a few more but that one, just because we ran out of songs, was on of the most memorable.

@Fran I’m so sad I missed out on that first time -I was underage and my family wouldn’t let me attend the gig 😭. But I must say the second time around (2007) was epic, lots of Mexican fans think of that one as your best gig ever. I mean, it is your longest concert ever, well, so far, we are ready to be surprised 😉.

hellooo and it’s great to see message board back again
I cannot remember exactly my board name then though 🙂 I am from Turkey and travelled to Paris, UK and Milan for the gigs and cannot wait for the new ones!
I loved Newcastle gig in 2024 but Glasgow OVO Hydro 2024 was something else as Fran put it, it was like a big Christmas office party! and oh soundchecks!! -

My favourite gig has to be Birmingham, absolutely no idea which tour or what year now (Keane were supporting, if that helps!) and it was my 50th Travis show. Fran gave myself and my friend a wonderful dedication from the stage and I’ve never forgotten it. I felt such love that night, and I still carry it with me. Thankyou, guys!

Astoria war child gig must have been around 2001 – starsailor and nada surf as support – what a gig. Queued for hours to be at the front. Unfortunately was with my ex but he can be forgotten
