Travis: British music is conservative

Travis have said they are bored with British music.

The Scottish band, whose album Ode To J.Smith is out now, said all their favourite bands at the moment came from America.

"There's a lot of good music coming out from America, in particular Brooklyn and Portland," Andy Dunlop said.

They listed MGMT, Fleet Foxes, Midlake, Field Music and Death Cab For Cutie among their favourites, saying US music was more eclectic.

"For some reason at the moment Britain seems to be so conservative whereas in America there seems to be a great inventiveness, eclecticism and spirit I don't know why that is," said Andy.

Lead singer Fran Healy added there were not many songs out there any more which the band would like to cover - having specialised in them in the past.

"There's just not too much kicking about for us to cover," he said.
