Seeing as Athlete have supported Travis in the past, it doesn't seem wrong to mention here that they're back in the studio composing Album no 4, and roughly half an album has already been written. Let joy be unconfined! :)
I saw them last night in the Hertford Marquee, and they were superb (as always). Part nostalgia trip of old faithful tracks, part showcase for new material, it was intimate, loud, sing-along, rocky in parts, mellow in others.
A great night, with 2 supports, Tape the Radio and Camp America. Watch out especially for Camp America - fantastic. http://www.myspace.com/campamerica
And finally, according to Dermot O'Leary, the band will be on his Saturday Radio 2 show next week, Sept 20th.
Nope, so thankfully you don't have to introduce me to them this time! What are the new tracks like, I like the old ones but I'd prefer them to sound a bit more confident. I like the way they've progressed though.

Personally, I think that albums 2 & 3 haven't quite matched the brilliance of 1. Album 1, Vehicles and Animals is outstanding (and at the risk of being boring, was a Mercury nominee!!!). However, they're all pretty good nonetheless.
What I heard last night of the new material sounds great. It's hard to say, on first hearing, exactly how great. But I'm a die hard fan, and I like their sound, so it was a bit of a no brainer for me!
I know what you mean about Joel's slight lack of confidence in his sound. But although I find it quite appealing it's actually not for real. They really do rock on stage. Hope they make it to Truro pretty soon, so you can see for yourself! :)
