He's going to jail tonight!
Nikki and Kayte, I hope you will use your powers for good and protect the city while Kwame gets his slap on the wrist. |

It will be a great burden on us. We may need to call in She-Devils from other branches. Come on up.
Oh, Kwame. He thinks he is all that and more. The city is in such a tangled mess as it is without having a corrupt mayor. With the Michigan economy in the toilet, all this bad publicity is not what we need right now.

I wanted to start a whole Kwame thread when all of this craziness first broke out about spending taxpayer's money, the text messages and the "alleged" cover up of the party at the Manoogian mansion and murder of dancer Tamara Green, but I didn't think it'd be wise considering my position with the paper.
All I will say is that it's very sad what's happening here. I love Detroit and hate to see it portrayed in a bad light. His actions have now made our city look even worse.

Ew, and they put him in the stinky jail next to where I used to work. I'm surprised. Rough place. |

Ha ha! Exactly.
I wonder how he'll look after he trades in his blue pin-stripes for Convict Orange.
EDIT: I just read that they're now wearing Convict Green. Styles change, even for criminals, I guess. |

Oh, Gosh...it's a long story...
It all started off with Kwame using taxpayer money to by extravagant thing for himself and his family. The newspapers found out about it through the freedom of information act and printed all of the expenses in the paper. Not long after that, it came out that Kwame "allegedly" threw a party at the mansion where he lives. His wife came home an reportedly saw Kwame getting a lap dance from this stripper so she freaked out and started to beat the woman with a wooden object. The police reports of this incident were somehow wiped off the police records. Not long after that, the dancer, Tamara Green, was found dead in another state, her car was sprayed with bullets...bullets that belong to the same kind of guns issued to Detroit police officers. While all of this was going on, two Detroit police officers were fired for investigating the situation. They filed a whistle blowers lawsuit. THEN the newspapers found out about Kwame's multiple affairs through company-issued text messages, which he lied about under oath...so he's costing the city about $9 million and he's not allowed to leave the state. WELL..he did! He went to Canada for something and now he's going to jail for it. |

thats pretty crazy. I had definatly only heard a tiny piece of the story. Can you impeach a mayor? Its kinda crazy that he is still in office (although i did read the thing about his cheif of staff is taking over) but he is still the mayor, right? |

He won't resign. People keep petitioning for it. The County Executive has asked him to resign or at least take a leave of absence. He won't do it.
Crazy enough, there are still a lot of people who support him and think he's doing a good job. (Huh? Really?)
Nikki, I bet Steve Wilson is just giddy with delight!
(Steve Wilson is a reporter who has dogged the mayor's footsteps catching him doing wrong at every possible opportunity.) |

Yes. The first sitting mayor in Detroit's 307 year history to spend a night behind bars, I just read.
