I don't think that it is the correct song as single: it is too rock!!!
I mostly prefer the pop or pop/rock Travis, with sweeter sounds.

Too much rock?
It's not enough. |

Everyone is entitled to thier opinion.
Personally i love Something Anything.
I feel this rockier stuff is just what we need from Travis right now.
I love all sides of Travis from the soft sounds through to the OTJS rockers.
The fresh edgier sound is a breath of fresh air from the band.

Sorry I don't agree. Given that sales of TBWNN, which was profoundly "sweet", were not all that great, I say bring on the rock and up the sales!!!
If OTJS harks back to the days and echoes the sound of "Good Feeling" (the album) so much the better.
It'll also make for some fantastic gigs!

I think it is a great single! I don't think it will chart well but it is exactly the sort of song that will appeal to people who will buy the album. If promoted well, Ode To J Smith will be getting to number 1. I've not heard Long Way Down's studio recording of course but live it is similar. Not quite as heavy, more Good Feeling bouncy, but it is very rocky! :) And rocky is what Travis need! |

Just listened to the new stuff and then a few random parts of Good Feeling - GF is still far superior and completely effortless IMO.

Few have it but are unsure of uploading with it being the single.
I think the new stuff is far better than Good Feeling. |

Why am I not surprised by that ...?

Not saying either is better or worse. I'm not familiar enough with the new stuff yet. I'm just looking forward to a return to the rockier sound that launched the band, and which turned me on to them in the first place! :) |

Maybe because it is actually better? |
