Hey yall! I am a huge Travis fan from Georgia, and this summer I am doing Study abroad at Oxford. This weekend I am going to be able to visit Scotland. I am so excited!!!! I have heard about many tourist spots to visit, but I was wondering if you have any favorite places or sites that arent "touristy"? Ive always wanted to visit Scotland, and after becoming a fan of Travis, my excitement has grown even more.
thanks!!

in Edinburgh there you can hike Arthur's Seat. The Castle and Royal Mile are pretty touristy, but just walking around downtown you will see a lot. If you are there in August, there is the Fringe Festival which i think runs most of the month. Oh the National Museum of Scotland (or something like that) is prety cool. Most specifically, the children's part, lol.
Gravefriar's Bobby is kinda a rip off as a postcard led me to believe it was huge. In fact, it was like a foot wide! |

I think there's still a plaque outside.
And in the bar downstairs, there's loads of Travis stuff - gold disc's etc.

I avoid the Edinburgh Festival in August like the plague. It's garbage. It's like the olympics for toffs.
Anyway, worth a visit are:
Glasgow - plenty of free museums, etc
Edinburgh - do the castle and all that touristy stuff.
Stirling - Stirling Castle and Wallace Monument
Falkirk - Falkirk Wheel is ok
Dundee - plenty of 15 year old girls pushing prams
Highlands - spend a couple of days somewhere in the middle of nowhere. It's stunning. Watch out if the midges are out!
