No words can accurately describe the vile smell that is in my office at the moment.

We are pretty sure that an animal has died either in the crawl space or in the wall of the house (my office is an old house).

It is mainly concentrated in the hallway but I have to walk in the hall to get to either of my colleague's offices. It's like walking through a forcefield of nastiness.

I have several calls out to companies trying to get someone out here today and am just hoping that one out of 4 companies can fit us in.

I hope if it's in the wall they can locate it and not cut a ton of holes.

I want to eat lunch and I think I'll go out. For good.

Yuck. Good luck locating the source AND getting rid of it.

Do you have a dog? I'm sure it'll be happy to sniff the source :o)

The dog is a good idea! And cheaper than pest control. Good luck. I've worked in stench before and it's not fun. From the way you describe it, it seems like the kind of smell that stays in your head even after you've removed yourself from the source.

No dog but my boss's sister has one. She could bring it by I guess. A guy came out and he went in the crawl space and attic and couldn't find anything. He agrees that it must be in the wall. But since we can't pinpoint it, even which wall- let alone which area of the wall- there isn't much point in making 10 holes to still find nothing.

He sprayed something called "Ratsorb" into all the vents. It smelled nice for about 10 minutes and now it just smells awful with a slight tinge of flowers.

He is coming back on Friday to evaluate the house and close up any potential entries so we'll see.

Tomorrow I am going to Target and have been told to buy anything that seems like it might deal with the smell.
