I'm going away to Dublin this year for my birthday (in May) so wanted to ask any Dubliner or anyone that's visited Dublin as a tourist to recommend anywhere to go and visit or any nice bars and restaurants around Temple Bar.
Cheers :) |

Temple Bar is a bit of a kip to be honest, Stags/Hens, Tourists, Neds. It can be full of testosterone and very messy in the late evenings.
However there are a couple of good pubs, I'd recommend The Foggy Dew.
If you want to do the whole touristy "Irish" thing there's The Oliver St.John Gogarty & across the road is The Auld Dubliner both full on paddywhackery pubs. There's also Fitzsimons hotel for a more "energetic" night out and plenty of clubs in the area.
Restaurants : Milanos does execellnt pizzas and Italian cuisine there's a few others ranging from good honest grub to ridiculously expensive shite.
Also be aware Dublin is expensive and the £ is not doing well at the moment it's about 79p to €1, a bottle of Magners will set you back about €5 depending where you drink it could be as much as €6.50.
Gimme a shout closer to the time and I'll try to be around at some stage, might even try to grab another couple of boardies if they are interested.

tis a great pub, great crowd ranging from bikers, after work suits, hippies, crusties, trendies. And some of the best music in Dublin.

Thanks Dubz i'll do some research into what we fancy doing and the money situation! We're staying near Temple Bar so will probably end up round there anyway. I'll probably check out some of those places too though.
Sina, i know i can't believe that was a year ago! Such good times :) |

Guiness Factory tour is an obvious one. And the open top bus tour of Dublin is genius, for the commentary alone.
I also liked the national gallery, and there's a statue of Oscar Wilde somewhere in a memorial garden. And visited the book of kells in the University.
I found the temple bar to be overly priced and overly busy. Far too much of a tourist trap.
Oh and I've just joined the 1000 club.. Wahey! |

Moray is pretty much spot on there. Dublin centre isn't as big as it seems and if you are near Temple Bar you pretty central.

Oh we're doing the open top bus! I went on the one in Glasgow last year and it was so funny, plus the woman gave me and my friends discount because it was my birthday and we ended up having a good ol chat about Travis and about the Barrowlands.
Congrats on the 1000 club! I'm way off yet lol |
