Okay, for all of you across the pond and beyond, there's this show called Dateline NBC, it's a weekly news show. They started this segment a couple of years ago called, "To Catch a Predator." They team up with a group called Perverted Justice. PJ poses as underage boys and girls online to lure in potential predators and have them arrested. I don't really look at is as informing, it's just ridiculous. This episode is so incredibly... uh, well see for yourself.

It's scary that there are people like that out there. Even scarier if you're a parent. Stupid is one thing, but to be stupid and dangerous is another.
When I was working at the Sheriff's Dept. there was a little unit that worked down in the basement doing this same thing. They were very successful. It seems to be quite easy to find creeps anywhere you look.

It still amazes me that guys still buy into this. It is scary how many guys they still bust even after doing this for so long. |

I know! The addiction or urge or whatever you want to call it is so strong that it's like they throw all caution to the wind. You'd be surprised to find out how far some of these guys travel to get to these meetings. Some of these guys would drive 2 hours or more and show up with creepy gifts and stuff. |

I know! It always amazes me when Chris Hanson finds out that these guys have traveled from miles away! This one guy drove from upstate florida all the way to Orlando one time! Unbelievable. And the guy in the clip, I thought it was a spoof at first, but no... it's not. |

I know I'm not suppose to (because he's a sexual deviant and all...) but I am slightly embarrassed for this guy! I love it when Chris Hansen goes up to him the second time and says, "I have been in television for 25 years, and I have seldom been at a loss for words..." and the guy gets this dumb look on his face, throws his arms in the air and goes, "I just came to get something to eat!" |

He seemed slightly retarded to me :0/ Personally I dont think shows like that should be allowed. Its not going to help the situation long term |

I was a secretary in the personnel department. Bad job. Bad location. Bad stories I could tell. |

I had nothing except a free parking pass to the "employees only" lot and all the cashews I could eat. (Snack of choice at that office.) And stress and rattled nerves. Jails are bad places and they smell horrible. The day the sewer backed up in the jail is a day I will never forgot. Lots of homeless people hanging about outside the Sheriff's office. Walking over homeless people is not a fun way to start the day.
I had to stay for a year to lock in my raise and then I went back to public health. I believe that the Sheriff's office went through 45 secretaries in 5 years. |
