i admit it, i'm on my wireless internet during class again. i just can't help it. it is so boring. i mean yeah, i like the class, but i can't get my mind straight and focused. it is "major religions around the world" and i like it, but we are cramming on shinto right now and i am just bored. i hate cramming. period. end of story.
oh holy travis people! please forgive me!!! |

Yeah back in my day I was too busy walking 3 miles in the snow (uphills both ways) for this kind of tomfoolery!
Ask a scandalous question! What is the topic for the day? |

here's a good one. this main myth of the origins of shintoism talk about how the kami (way of life, pureness) is so sick lol. my teacher explained like this:
the first human beings were Izanagi (the man kami spirit) and Izanami (the female kami spirit). Izanagi asked Izanami about how her body was "shaped". she said that she had a spot that wasn't "filled." Izanagi said he has a spot that was "filled with excess." he asked her if they could combine their "spots" to make things equal, and in the process have sexual intercourse. she responded, and i quote my prof who quoted from the Book of Kojiki, "That would be EXCELLENT."
my prof is so funny and i really like his lectures. he always throws weird and creepy things to keep our attention. kinda like how samurais are extremely devoted to their people and country. if they feel they have shamed their honor, they will actually commit hara-kiri ("belly-slicing." this is how the kami-kazes were, with the belief in honoring and defending their people to the utmost and preferring death to dishonor.
how's that for a lesson??? |
