Don't know if any of you are familiar with the story of Flat Stanley (Wikipedia: Flat Stanley), but he's here visiting from Kentucky. Since we are being dutiful hosts we have already taken pictures with him in front of the world's biggest tire in Allen Park, the Detroit Zoo, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Hitsville USA (Motown Museum) Hockeytown Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe, and the Spirit of Detroit statue. We're going to take him to my daughter's school this week and we'll do the Henry Ford Museum Saturday and dye eggs with him and send him back on his way next Monday.
If you're not familiar with the whole Flat Stanley concept, this is the kinda thing you do when you host him.

OMG! Wow, that's a great idea! We can start a list and then whenever the person's time is up, they can get the address of the person on the list below them and we can post the pictures on the board. Kayte you are a genius! Maybe it should be TRAVIS related like... flat fran... I dunno... hahaha

Or we could make a small chain of paper guys (kinda like paper dolls) and it could be Flat Travis! Juli could PhotoShop their faces on the bodies. Cool! This is going to be fun! |

I've hosted Flat Stanley before. It was really fun. It would be great to do it on the board. Perhaps we could have a thread and posts the pics so everyone can see where he goes.
Stanley will be very well-traveled!

Flat Stanley is very near and dear to my heart. I had a Flat Stanley pen pal in first grade. He was a little Polish boy who lived in a house next door to where my family used to live in Poland. His name is Greg and my mom became friends with his mom and our families are still friends and we still send each other things to this day! I still have the Flat Stanley and all the clothes they made for him as well. :)
This is going to be soooo fun! Count me in!! The idea of a chain paper doll type of "Flat Travis" is SO cute!!!!! |

I was thinking it makes sense to have a thread where you say whether or not you want to do this. So for example Kayte starts and she looks at the thread and sees who posted right beneath her. Why it's Abs! So she gets her address and sends it on. Then once Abs has had her way with Stanley (or Travis) she goes to the thread and sees that Ric is next, gets his contact info. Etc. etc.
Nikki had a fun idea that I'll let her share. |
