Which words have you taken from a travis song and applied them to your life?
For me: "Time exists just on your wrist so dont panic", helped me break the restrictions of time and routine.
So those words have had a positive effect on my life.
Is there a line from a travis song, that has in some way affected your life, or means so much to you?
Do you have a favourite line?
Or have you thought about part of a travis song when thinking about someone or a certain situation?
Selfish jean, for example, springs in to my mind when thinking about a certain person. Hahaha :-) |

Standing On My Own has always been my personal anthem, in a quite bitter way.
Of course there's many many others which I feel as 'my songs', like they were written for me; As You Are, WDIAROM and Driftwood for example. But we're talking about Travis here, which means the list just goes on.
Gahh did I even answer the question? No, I just named the songs. Oh well. |

Great answer.
Songs can mean different things to different people.
Its just interesting to know what they mean to each and every one of us and how they might affect us.
Would be great to hear your views. ;-) |

"You have a voice, don't lose it
You have a choice, so chose it
You have a brain, so use it"
I always say it, because many people stop thinking themselves and just do, what everyone else says and does and it's very sad. |

Sometimes i try to think of Safe when i feel all mixed up about something, it makes me feel kinda better
There are bits of, like, nearly every song that appeal to me on different days |

The last days have been a little bit difficult, and I was trying to apply Safe to my life as well
Take all the goods from all the bads...
I'm not afraid of anything they've got to say...
you've got to be just who who you are... who you are
the perfect song for me. |

It really depends on my mood, but some lyrics that inspire me are:
"Raising a smile makes it all worthwhile" - Afterglow
"And ever since a long time, I felt the rain, And there was no danger, no more strangers" - As You Are
"Love will come through, it's just waiting for you" - Love Will Come Through
"I feel so brave, I'm not afraid of anything they've got to say, And you're okay, Because you're tucked away, Don't go astray you've got to be just who you are, Who you are"- Safe
" Home and away, Life goes on the same, We bury the pain (And hold on to the love)" - Somewhere Else
"We'll never know unless we grow, There's so much world outside the door" - Turn

I have to go through my lyric book for a sentence but Pipedreams is the one song for me that always makes sense. And i find great peace in Love will come through. |

"I want to sing
To sing my song
I want to live in a world where I belong
I want to live
I will survive..."
That lyric makes me cry. Is just the way I'm feel.

I love side. When I first heard it I had just come out of school because of bullying and the lyrics made me get on with my life and not worry about the future and not dwell on the past. It was also the song that got me into Travis' music.
My favourite line is from Safe:
'When I was young things didn't last, My only cares stemmed to the price of sweets, Now I am older I can laugh, A dolly mixed-up man with rotten teeth.'
But the line I live my life by is from Somewhere Else:
'Home and away, Life goes on the same, We bury the pain and hold onto love.'
Wow this is a pretty long post by my standards lol |

This part of The Humpty Dumpty Love Song is wonderful for me. I´ve been keeping it inside my heart since I knew that wonderful song. I´ll sing it some day in future to the woman of my life kissing her ear in a very special day (all you can suppose it). Well, only God knows when this will happen.
'Cause all I need is you
I just need you
yeah, you got the glue
So i'm gonna give my heart to you
On the other hand, the complete lyric of SING has helped me many times to be happy & strong for years. I love that song. :-) |

You were on my mind
Inside the cinema
I almost had to go
And when I got outside
I thought of you again
I know youd disagree with me
But I love you anyways
And should I climb high my
Dreary city walls
They make me feel so small
Oh let me fade away

Quote: A funny thing to do
Is everyone like you
'Cause people seldom change
They all just stay the same
A funny thing to say
Suppose you're just that way
Although you're sure you're sure
There really is no cure
Love it. |

"I'm staying in bed
Till my hair falls out
Everything's over"
- Tied To The 90s
"Maybe then tomorrow will be Monday"
- Writing To Reach You
"I want to sing
To sing my song
I want to live in a world where I'll be strong
I want to live
I will survive
And I believe that it won't be very long"
- Turn
And anyone who knows what this means, it's hard to explain but the solo in As You Are sort of does something, it sort of means something to me, like something powerful and awe inspiring. |
