Well, I bought a past magazine, and I found the key why do we love travis?
People don´t care about us, and that´s great
August 14-20 2000, The Big Issue
The irony is that the same qualities (nice, polite, down-to-earth) that make the affable Glaswegians – officially Britain´s biggest rock band – imposible to dislike in person have made them prime targets for anybody lamenting the current state of British music.
Liam Gallagher said of the band that they lacked that indefinable “wooooaargh”, a criticism they donpt dispute. Healy happily describes Travis as “inconspicuous” and “neutral”.
The fact that Travis only headlined this year´s Glastunbury festival after organizers had very publicy failed to secure either Oasis or Radiohead only compounded the sense that the four scots have been prematurely promoted from rock´s subs´ bench to captains of the national team. Yet despite the absence of oldfashioned ingredients such as glamour, danger, anger and sex.
The Man Who, has sold almost three millions copies only at UK, There´re about 21 million households in Britain. “That means one in seven houses have this record.
What do people dislike about Travis?
“I don´t know. We´re mad. Ha ha! Nah, I don´t know what they dislike. Me probably. I don´t care though, because i´m crystal clear about what i´m doing. Said Fran Healy
Unlike the Gallaghers or Richard Ashcroft, Travis don´t shout from rooftops about their ambition to be a great band, but they´re no less driven.
Apart from hard work self-belief and catchy tunes, the secret of their success is that there is no secret.
“It´s all accidental”, says Healy, slightly disingenuously. “We fell into the band and we failed for six years (Glass Onion). People would come up to us and say “You´re shit”, and we were shit, but we just kept going at it. It´s the stupid factor” Said Fran.
I just wanna finish with a Line...
Travis is amazing.
