Ok...If you tell me your name! :-)
My interpretation of this song is that its the Ferris wheel of Love...A Merrygoround of emotions. Sometimes goes smooth sometimes goes rocky and its scary , and lonely... Sometimes and when its starts to go bad its somehow happens like cloud breaking up , can't be stopped - run for cover . Either one can cause it.
Maybe? :-) |

Ammhhh...?
I don`t know at all, but Big Chair speaks about to reach something (a person, love, a dream)
We can think about all that...
Sorry, but today i have a headache =S
Maybe i will think about big chair later!
P.S. Big Chair`s bass add a misteryous meaning of the song. |

Well, there was an album by Tears for Fears called Songs From the Big Chair. I always took Big Chair to be a metaphor for either the world, or just something in authority that you have no control over. We're just along for the ride. |

it reminds me of a big rocking chair i used to sit in to contemplate the world as a kid, and as an adult, i used to rock my kids to sleep in it and watch the night sky through the window and watch the world go by - i used to give me a huge feeling of infinity - this song evokes all of that - the ride of life, of love, of fate and not being able to control it. |

Yes, you`re right!!!
I remeber that album, my dad played the album everyday xD
But i don`t know if the meaning has relation with Travis Big Chair.
As i said, Big Chair speaks about a reaching.
But your metaphor is so close...
Hey, nice topic! |

You speak with such confident authority. Did you ask the band or read something? |

A disabled friend of mine in a wheelchair loves it, even though it wasn't written with a 'big chair' in mind.
Whenever he goes out, he says "Here we go, fast and slow, in my big chair". He loves it, going fast then slow!
Songs mean different things to different people. Not just the meaning that the writer intended.
But I think Fran's intention was to incorporate it as a metaphor about the world and looking at it as the bigger picture. |
