Nope it isn't just you Sina. I've not watched the 2nd episode because i've taped it but if it's anything like the first one i'll be disappointed! It's probably because we have no John Simm to stare at ha ha. Also, Life on Mars was based upon Sam's relationship with Gene and their conflicts with slight humour running alongside the despiration and suspence of Sam trying to work out how to get home. Now this is all old news to viewers as we definately know she's alive, all we have to work on is whether Gene and the guys are part of a limbo existance between life and death or whether she's dellusional and living Sam's fantasy place. Her relationship with Gene is rubbish too and the fact she she isn't the best actress ever is a let down. 80s London doesn't grab me as much as 70s Manchester either so it all feels a little deflated compared to the fantastic Life on Mars...but then again i always knew i'd feel that way! |

aye I also had the feeling that I wouldn't be good, especially with John Sims not in it. I started to watch it last night but after 10 Mins I gave up. *sigh*
How are you Helen ? have you achieved the various goals you set yourself for 2008 :) |

Still not watched the 2nd one yet. I keep putting it off! I'm Sky + -ing the series anyway but dunno if it'll improve..hmmm.
Ha ha my goals, well i am definately getting there. Another couple of months and i'll have completed another goal. I came close to the third one but that's changed now. I'm sure i'll let you know when all goals have been reached ;) Hee hee. Hope you're doing well Sina :) |

hehehehe good for you, keep at it Helen ! :) :)
I've sort of semi watched it last night..... John Simms is definitely missed. The bird's just hopless but I'm warming to Glenister...
I'm doing fine, going to Glasgow next Thursday, so that's always good! :) |

i have the same problem - enjoyed watching 70's stuff and was in Manchester late 70's so had a concention and John Simms is hot - but 80's (?!), been there, done that, hidden the photos - watched all of 1, none of 2 and half of 3 - it didn't hold me. Maybe it will get better? |

Well one of my fave places to go out is an 80s themed bar so i thought this would make me laugh or relate it to the bar but nothing!
Oooo hope you have fun in Glasgow Sina (as you always do!) |

Didn't really enjoy the first episode, but got into the series at the end of the second episode. I wish they'd limit the crap about "how do I get home" though, and just bring back Sam.
Quote: They never even found his body. Div'.
It sort of reminds me of Ultimate Force, that S.A.S. programme, where there was a similar relationship between a veteran Sergent (Ross Kemp) and a new recruit (that guy who played the brtother in Billy Elliot...); the whole of the story was built around the young guy struggling to adapt to his squad, army life and new leader, yet they killed him out at the start of the 3rd series.
As for the new decade, that doesn't other me so much. A fun new set of cars to drive, minorities for Gene to insult and a new soundtrack. I'm reserving my judgement for episode 3, which I haven't seen yet because I spilt coffee all over my laptop PC. |
