i think using the quote function helps keep you "connected" to the person you want to respond to within the thread if that makes sense. Ironicially we never really used "Quote" at our old digs, maybe now is the time to give it some love.

That's 'cause the old quote function was a bit pooh really, didn't really leave much scope for editing what you were quoting.
This new one I much prefer though. Think it's going to have to get use heavily in conversational threads. Will actually be interesting to see if the type of conversations that went on in the old board will evolve to take into account this new style. Less of the going off in tangents to the subject, that sort of thing.
Would be a shame if it did |

Providing you used the thread view on the old messageboard, there was never need for quoting - it was made explicit who you were replying to anyway. I've always liked the thread design because it was much more organised. You just had to click on the post, and then you had an overview of who's talking, and who's replying to who. I also liked it because it was unique. I like the new features of this board a lot, but at it's basics I'm not particularly excited by it. I guess I've got no choice but to get used to it though... |

yeah this is a drag. to be honest the only 'board left that i'm aware of that has the branches is the radiohead 'board...it's kind of sad all the same that the old board format is leaving us :/ |

Erm, not always. There were a few times where people would say "you talking to me? (punk)" Well, they didn't say the punk part, but it was confusing. |

Yeah, you have to really on this type of board. Took me a while to get used to it over on the Fratellis site, but once you do it's pretty cool. |
