I went to the movie theatre for the first time in DC last night. The people I was with said that they usually go see one movie, and then sneak into another one just to get their money's worth (tickets are $13, but with a Student ID we got them for $8.50). So the first movie we saw was One Missed Call.

Now, I can be a movie snob sometimes, and when I first heard that we were going to see this movie I said, "I'll sit through it, but I know I won't like it one bit." Well I was right, the movie was terrible. But it was terrible in a bad horror movie was. People were laughing at the screen when they should have been screaming. People were talking back to the screen at scary parts ("Run girl! Run!") So it was actually entertaining.
Next up Cloverfield. Now, I a huge fan of the TV show LOST. So when I heard it was produced by JJ Abrams, I was all over it. There weren't a lot of places to sit in the theater so I ended up in the front. If you guys know about the plot, you know that one of the main elements of the movies was the shaky hand held camera work. This did not fly with me. The combination of sitting in the front row, the camera work, and the big dinner I had that night made me nauseous within 10 minutes. I ended up watching the movie with my head down, I could take it. So the mere fact that I didn't even watch the whole movie was slightly disappointing. But even from the audio, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. But I think my hopes were a little too high.

I have no intention of seeing Cloverfield. Monster movies just bore me stupid. You know that they will never happen in real life and that just doesn't make them scary.

I liked it and i don't play video games . It was smartly done , unique way of giving the back story and background info through out . Showed just enough of the creature and had a bit of character development for it's premise , a found tape of an unexplained event . Weakest part , the actors . Sure suspend belief with is odessy like must find penelope theme .

studio did a good job of using the special effects . The shaky camera work didn't bother me , it covered up the weakness in the actors
