Does anyone know what head andy uses with his Orange cabs? It looks like an AD30 from some pictures I found, but he seems to get a super clean tone from it that is unlike what I've heard from the AD30.
Thanks :)

I think it is an AD30. I remember seeing that written on it at the last gig and wondered was it his own endorsed head, cos i'd seen he has one from before somewhere. It's either an AD30 or an AD50 i seem to remember |

Do you happen to know what he used for Live 8? He had about 8 4x12 cabs and four heads (I think, hard to tell from the video) I assume he's using something of higher wattage then an AD30, but beyond that, I can't tell.
In answer to your question, both the AD30 and AD50 are stock amp heads (though the AD50 is actually produced by the Orange Custom Shop) Rather then specialized models for andy. Andy does have a custom model Cab though, the 4x12AD, it's identical to the standard 4x12 but with a slanted front. |

I remember on every tour since The Man Who (up until TBWNN tour) he has used 4x12 cabs, and two heads. His rig seems to have changed even over the TBWNN tour. He's using a smaller cab and only one head last time i saw |

yeah, I know his old heads were AD series', but he very likely could have gone to a more powerful wattage head after cutting down to only one. At the BWNN tour show I went to (at the Vic in Chicago) He was also using an Orange combo amp though it's hard to tell the exact model. |

If anyone is still interested, I figured it out:
Having found some better photos of Andy's heads, I was able to determine that they must be either AD50's or Retro 50's due to the layout of the control knobs (two large knobs bordering three smaller ones).
Still haven't figured out the model on the combo though as they look really similar from the front.

eyy !! i will look for the magazine you are talking about,
about the head i'm almost sure it's a rockeverb 100, why ? the ad30 has two chanels, and the whole knobs for each one, and in the rockerverb has one single line of knobs for two channels, clean/dirty...
i believe, don't take it as a 100% certain anwser... |

It can't be a Rockeverb series head. Photos of Andy during the BWNN tour clearly show the head has a control configuration only used on the AD50 or Retro 50 |

According to the current Orange Catalog, the ONLY amp heads made by orange with the control layout of Andy's head are the AD50 and the Retro 50 (which are both custom shop models.) Though of course, he could always be using a head not currently in production. |

Ok, so I'm no expert om guitar stuff. Though if I ever were to get me some amps it would have to be Orange. Both because I love the color and design and because well Andy has them ;-)
But the reason I'm posting is that I found a few pictures of mr Dunlops amps in my collection (none are taken by me btw). The first is from The Barras in May 2007, and the second from San Diego November 2007. Both clearly show AD 50. No idea what this means of course, lol, but I see it's mentioned in this thread that it must be AD50 or Retro50.
So does this help you guys?
