Who watched Louis Theroux, behind bars last night then? His shows are always must see, and again didn't disappoint. I thought it was an amazing insight into life behind bars, the prison mentality, and the thought process of those locked up. Certainly doesn't look like much reforming goes on in prison anyway.
Best part of the show though was when they showed the ex-Nazi skinhead gang member who had hooked up with the gay jewish drag artist in a proper relationship! I swear, you couldn't write something as bizarre as that.
Definitely very far flung from an episode of Porridge! |

Aye it was bizarre all right. Quite disturbing in some ways to see how guys had just given up on life as well. |

I read an article related to this on the BBC homepage. I seriously hope they'll start sending it on a channel where I can see it, cos it sounds like something I wanna see.
Also read about a Christian family who travelled around demonstrating at funerals. They believed that the war in Iraq was God's punishment for the US government's tolerance of gay people.

I thought it was pretty crazy. At times it was hard to remember that these people had committed horrable crimes and were in there for a reason. That guy who was serving 500 years and 11 life sentances for torturing people was really horrable.Imagine being able to torture so many people! |

I was thinking that you'd have to be an actual, clinical psychopath to be able to do this torturing. Now I don't know whether I really wanna meet up again next time I'm in glasgow lol
As long as you don't actually do it, I suppose I can live with it :oP |

I don't think they'd given up on life as such. I got the impression that they'd re-adjusted to life inside, and that was where their life was now. Interesting stuff alright |

Yeah, I watched it. I love Louis!! Was extremely brave of him to go in there and chat to the prisoners like that, he didn't seem too intimidated by it all. That prison was very grim, yet after watching that I kind of understand how people get sucked into that cycle of prison/getting out/re-offending/prison all over again. Fascinating. |

As I watched it I thought they could have made a six part series of that and it would have kept my interest throughout. Irresistibly good. |

Baptist
Phelps family.
They live about 3 hours away from my home in Kansas. Protested a play at a sister high school of the one I went to because it had gay themes in it. A bunch of whack jobs. But yeah, I saw that special he did on them. I thought it was really great. |
