(quoting fran) Wrote a new song today called "Friends". Written from girl to boy who treats her like shit.
But it seems, from the words of the song, that this girl misses that boy. Doesn't she?
Why should a girl miss a boy who treats her like shit?? |

Some women don't realize they're being treated poorly until they are already emotionally invested. Thinking with their hearts, not their brains. |

i think it's a case of "you said you were my friend, but i'm going to tell you the definition of friendship you little arsehole!" haha, well, i think she misses him, 'cause both were friends obviously, but now she's hurt |

I think she did a lot for this guy, "whatever makes you happy...whatever makes you love me," and he dumped her anyway. But the poor thing still misses him. |

I think that, if Fran were to alter the lyrics at all, he could make the "Written from girl to boy who treats her like shit" theme a bit more explicit. It's just that it has the possibility of being misread as a simple cheesy song about friendship, which aint exactly going to lie well in an "edgier" album. :p |

That's what makes the music and the delivery of the lines important. It's not just what you say, it's the way you say it. Mood and all that. |

Yup that's true. Can't wait to hear this song now. :) Of course, we don't even know for sure if it's gonna be an album song...could just be a b-side yet. I'm guessing it'll be on the album tho. |

Yes I can't wait to hear the song too!
And I like the fact that Fran writes as if he is the girl.

I agree that it makes a huge difference in the delivery of the lines. That's probably why Fran wanted to hear how we were singing it in our heads. And Luke did a great job! For me, the lyrics to "Friends" are about a person who does everything for the one they love and gets nothing in return, but is still in love. Kind of like Re-Offender in a way. The person keeps going back to the one that treats them so bad. "Fooling my selfish heart, going through the motions." |

It's like that Rick Springfield song,
I've done everything for you
You've done nothing for me!
And if you ask me who Rick Springfield is--just don't! |

Also "Happy To Hang Around" - God, what a song that is! (listening to it now).
And I'll never get into your heart
Though I don't even want to start
I'll never get into your heart
I'm just happy to hang around
BTW- is it "though I don't even want to start" or "no, I don't even want to start"? Cuz I sing it "though" but travis.orgaphy has "no." I don't have my CD booklet handy. Not that it's a huge deal or anything, lol.
