Ok, first of all I have to explain this post. My first record I bought, which was more serious music, was one of the band round' singer Gwen Stefani "No Doubt".
They are the group that brought me to listen to bands like The Clash, Madness, The Specials, even Radiohead.
I know that they are really "mainstream" these days, but they were'nt before. I don't care if something is mainstream or not, because it must you bring to feel happy.
But on several boards like "Rolling Stone" for example, somoe more of the members, do think that No Doubt isn't very talented and they make rubbish music.
I would like to know what Fran or you think of No Doubt's music... |

In my honest and humble (this is only my) opinion No Doubt had one good song and the rest were pretty indifferent I have an album sitting in my collection and only the one song has made it onto my ipod.
I haven't heard anything since Gwen split from them so i can't comment on them since but they certainly didn't influence me in my music choices.
Everyone likes different types of music and just because i don't rate it doesn't mean it isn't good. It would be a boring world if everything sounded the same. I love the indie rock world but also enjoy madrigals and classic english old folk. Each to their own i say. I would say that you shouldn't ever slate a group and say they are rubbish just because they aren't your taste - it's just different and that's what makes the world go round (nothing to do with ggraity and science at all!)
ANyway, have a good day,

They are working on a new record. Don't Speak was #1 in UK and "Hey Baby" ( the only bad ND-song by the way ) on #2. |

now you see i loved DOn't SPeak (oops capital lock there) but nothing else on that album grabbed me as as DOn't SPeak (oo, spooky, same mistake twice - and all by accident!) was the first time i'd heard of them i didn't go back catalogging as i am oft tempted to do (Snowpatrol being a good example - but i digress) don't even know of 'hey baby' though might recognise it if i heard it. My kids love gwen stuff though - which is okayish. |

"Just A Girl" was also a big hit in the UK... Gwens solostuff has'nt something to do with ND.
I am wondering what Fran would say about the band... |

If you asked me to name a No Doubt song, I don't think I could give one. :s Oh, apart from that "it's my life" cover. Which was ok, but I don't really like bands releasing covers as singles (don't even get me started on Westlife, lol). |

I think they're an okay band. If I had an iPod, "Don't Speak" would probably be the only song of theirs I'd add, however. My cousin really likes Gwen's solo stuff and invited me to go to her concert recently. I had an okay time...big stadium shows aren't my thing, but I do like a few of her solo songs like "Cool" and "4 In The Morning". For me, though, I'm drawn to her more for her whole persona more so than for her music. I really love her style and think she's gorgeous. |
