Things I love about trains:
1. plenty of leg room
2. can watch the scenery
3. can sleep if you want
4. as has been noted, source of interesting stories
5. get to where you're going in half the time
6. source of free newspapers (Scottish.... stingy? never!)
EDIT: and to be fair to them, here anyway the trains are clean, safe, modern and rarely have any trouble with them being overly late)

In spite of the rumours, Danish trains are actually usually on time. However, DSB (the national railway company) has a nasty habit of only wanting a lot of trains on the main line between the two biggest cities in the country. This means that the line I'm using the most is going to be even more irregular than it is now.
Anyhow, top 5 gripes about public transport:
- never runs exactly when you need it
- standing in the rain waiting for the bus to show up
- the only person on the bus/train not to have showered for at least a week WILL sit down next to you
- overpriced tickets
- overpriced food/drinks |

yes i agree there are good points too but the govenment let us down by privatetising the rail network from brittish rail, mind you the only decent train operator in this country i know is Virgin Trains there trains are modern n smart |

You've not discovered the art of leaving an open newspaper on the seat next to you then? Nobody ever moves it, you don't even have to pretend to read it |

public transportation is just one big petrie dish here in Boston. there's nothing that can beat being stuck in a tunnel inside a packed subway car with no air-conditioning and sweaty, coughy dirtyassed commuters all around you. *shudders*
