I had thought about putting this down on the "guilty pleasures" thread, but this song is also significant because it was the first record I ever bought with my own money. Keep in mind, I was a mere child. I had to beg my mom to let me buy this. C'mon everybody get down, get with it!

So, what's the first record you ever bought? |

Can't say or won't say? I didn't say GOOD record. Hey, I put myself out on a limb here with my confession. Out with it! |

ok, if you insist... i bought my first cd many years ago, i was veeery little, and had been saving all my coins to buy the soundtrack of this show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cdb81YGMoJk (it was a chilean tv show for kids ;)
now, the first real cd, let's say real music - bought with my own cash, that was oasis' definitely maybe, it was the first one (and definitely worh it) ;) |

I would have to say it was 10 tapes (that's right kids..TAPES)...Columbia Record Club...10 tapes for a penny.
Devo - Freedom of Choice
Doors - Greatest Hits
Led Zep - zofo
The Who - Face Dances??
I'm sure there was a Queen album in there as well....wide variety of stuff....hard to think of 10 albums to buy back in 1980....

Ahh, the lure of Columbia House. Hee hee, I had forgotten about them. My friend did that. She let me get some stuff, too.
Lucky you started life in the tape era. I still have Foreigner 4 and Moody Blues "The Voice" on records. Anyone remember "The Voice?" The B side of that record always scared me. |

Great thread Kayte. I was thinking of starting a thread like this too!
The first thing I remember using my own money to buy was this tape. (we're totally dating ourselves by the whole album/tape/CD thing)

I have a hard time picturing you as a hard rock fan. Please give more details for my amusement. |
