This has been bugging me for the past couple days. I was listening to my iPod on shuffle, and the remix came up. In the beginning before the beat starts, there's a vocal (Fran's, I'm assuming). I've been trying to decipher what he's saying. But I think it's some part of the song played backwards. If it is... which part?
And on a completely related note, in the original Writing to Reach You, I can hear the same thing during the verse after the guitar solo ("Maybe then tomorrow will be Monday...").
So... what do you guys think? |

Hey Lauren, Just had a listen to the original and the remix and it sure sounds like a part of the song played backwards to me. I also hear the same thing in the original after the solo. Hmmm...interesting. Wonder what Fran's saying. |

Okay! Good, I'm not going crazy... I'm just trying to determine what part it is...
Fran? Are you out there?
...or I can just ask him if I catch him after the Seattle concert. I don't know why this is making me bonkers... it just is. |

I have reversed the beginning of the remix and exported it as an mp3. It plays normally then backwards. It's very obvious what he says... |

I can't hear much in the normal verse. Where exactly? |

It's not as profound as the remix version. It's right after the guitar solo, and after he says... well sings, "Maybe then tomorrow will be Monday; and whatever's in my eye should go away..." cue backwards clip.
Thanks Cryptic! |

Right, here's the revelant bit, once again backwards and forwards. I think it's just a tiny bit of it - it doesn't sound like it was recorded normally. Not quite as clear cut though.
And here is just the tiny bit reversed. Again, not conclusive. |

Ok I've had a listen.
All I can make out is "... Sunday, whatever's in my eye..." |

Can anyone hear anything other than, "Sunday, whatever's in my head...?"

I can't even hear that, personally! :(
Here is the whol;e song backwards if you want to go hunting. I lost the beginning (so now the end :s) somewhere during editing - sorry! |

Really? But in your first post you said it's pretty obvious what he says.
I can't make out anything in the regular WTRY, but in the remix, I can hear, "...Sunday, whatever's in my head" |

This is a cool thread.
I ve actually been re-listening to The Man Who alot lately and I now think Writing to Reach you is my favourite song from the album.
I noticed the effect you mentioned as well. Its pretty cool. I dont know for sure but it sounds something like "ahhh I'm missing you". Its really cool.
Any other ideas? |
