| If my memory serves me right y'all recorded something like 40 songs in the sessions for The Boy with No Name. I was just curious if you would ever use any of those on the next album or if you prefer a clean slate. |

| I always wondered this myself, but from listening to the XFM podcast on The Man Who today, I think that if the guys have something in the song vault that's good enough they would probably consider using it...or else just use ideas from past non-album tracks. Kind of like they did with "Writing to Reach You"...I think Fran said he wrote it in 1995. Or on the TBWNN how they resurrected some lyrics from an old non-album track in "Selfish Jean." But who knows if any of the left over stuff from this recording session will be used. Good question, Anne! |

Yeah re-inventing is a third option. I was wondering if there were some tracks that all of you liked but they just weren't right for TBWNN. Or if at this stage you just want to begin anew and see where you go in this moment.
An analogy about a clean slate is say there are parents who had a boy and a girl name picked out for a baby. Their first was a boy so they obviously didn't use the girl name. Next time around it just didn't feel right to use the "leftover" name for the girl they had and they picked something totally new. Nothing wrong with the first girl name, just felt like she deserved her own naming process. |
