are you road tripping the whole thing?

if you're going to seattle you can meet up with me and 3 other boardies. 3 of us are flying out there, and one lives there, so we're having a mini boardie convention. you're welcome to join us.

BAH!

Since Travis last toured I have been reciting to myself over and over again "next tour I will meet them, next tour I will meet them, next tour I will meet them." It's not as crazy as you think, trust me. I've even slightly worked out the logistics of seeing them at multiple shows along the west coast. Time off from work, money for tickets, hotel bills (should I sleep in my car?), etc.

When the rumors first started rumbling that they'd be doing another US tour after snubbing the west coast the first time around, I was thrilled - I couldn't wait. Turns out, they're playing Portland (where I live) the same time I'll be in Michigan for my brother's wedding. <insert record scratch sound effect here>

FUCK!

I've seen quite a few message board posts in my day about people feeling down about missing the chance to see a band that they liked, but never really understood it. Now I do. I was legitimately bummed when they posted the new dates. I wasn't going to have a chance to see them! Worse, they probably wouldn't be 'round these parts for another 2 or 3 years.

So what's my point in writing this? Not much, other than to let you know that I'm throwing a pity party and you're all invited. I haven't seen Travis since 2003 and won't likely see them until 2010 (off-the-wall guess on the next time they'll tour the US). If I were the type to cry over this kind of thing, I'd be crying.

I hope you all enjoy seeing them live!

They didn't really snub the west coast, they were in California in the spring.

I'll put it to you this way - they had 3 shows (one was a festival, I think) that were west of Kansas, and all of them were in California. Obviously they snubbed the West Coast (or rather, the entire west-half of the US), otherwise they wouldn't be specifically touring there this time around.

yup - i'll be doing the whole thing. vancouver too just for good measure but thats just b/c i want to go to vancouver so i'm getting in a day early to see that city.

i work from home so as long asi have internet connection i can work! :) and the west coast is great b/c by noon (well 1) i'm home free as the east coast is closed for business.

i'd love to meet up with peeps in seattle. the only thing that sucks about having the flexibility to do stuff like this is that none of my friends do - so i either go it alone or stay home.

Joe, I am bummed for you. Even though I don't know you I feel indebted to you for putting together an amazing site that has expanded my knowledge of Travis' work. I am so impressed by the work you put into it and truly grateful to have that resource.

I was surprised that you haven't yet met them. So it totally stinks that you are missing your chance.

I truly believe it will not be as long a wait until they come around again. Maybe they can sign your baby when you meet them!

Okay, cool. Stick around for instructions, I have no idea what the plan is yet.
I would totally tour with you too. But , $$$, not really, I just need to save up for school, you know?

I agree with WeirdMommy...

Joe, I've been on your site for literally half the day. It's so amazing! Thank you so much for putting all that work into it and keeping it updated!

Too bad you couldn't make it over here to Pontiac in July for their show. :(

Where exactly in Michigan are you from originally?

Rochester Hills. We're gonna move back next year sometime. Right now we're thinking somewhere in Clarkston, but it all depends on whether or not I can find a job there.

I'm only going to the San Diego show, but I'm Ok with that :) I saw Travis at Coachella and was content for that to be the only Travis show I saw this year.... and then they announced the San Diego date for this tour so I was happy.

I feel kinda bad saying "oh,I'm gonna get to see Travis".

I understand their odd touring schedule though-it's down to their all having families(save for Dougie)now and not wanting to be away from them for long periods of time(someone can correct me if they think I'm wrong)

Hehe, I think a wife still counts as a family.
