I'm so sad that Travis won't come in France again on this tour..I really needed this gig to refresh myself! It maybe sounds stupid, but I was nearly crying when I was told that they will not come back (btw thx again Lucile )..
But I know this is not their fault!

Pff don't wanna hope anymore..It disappoints too much when you hope for nothing..
Now I have to find money to go see them in another country! I'm not 18 so it's gonna be difficult to find an hotel room, etc.. |

| I'm gutted too. I was convinced I was going to travel up to Paris for this gig( ah, not to be!) My passport runs out soon so I need to get organised if I want to have a chance to seem them maybe in the UK. Arrrgh, this is awful!! |

Thanks for the info but I must say I am extremely but really extremely pissed off!
How can it be acceptable to think that since they've already played in Paris once then they've already done enough for the whole country (2nd largest in Europe in size after Germany and counting over 60 Millions citizens), when in the meantime they've done or about to do more than one gigs in Spain, Germany, Norway etc... Travis is also doing a gig in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark all much smaller countries in terms of size and population.
How many boardies are there from France? Sorry French people you're just from a small country and small people in terms of fans...not worth arranging a couple of dates for Travis and their fans! Sorry but that's how I'm taking it. Since I've been on this board (2005) they've only done one date, the Paris date in june this year and Paris is NOT France. Muse, Divine Comedy where here down south in either Nimes or Marseille recently.
Don't get me wrong I know this isn't coming from the band.
Wherever it's coming from it's totally unfair and a very big disapointment. |

I think there's something cultural about it. France often equates to Paris to a lot of people, mostly to Parisians (no offence to my friends from Paris) - and that doesn't just concern gigs. Paris is predominently central - all the power is there and it seems that the other cities don't matter, however big they are. Of course some bands do play in other cities than Paris - but they are not a majority.
As you pointed it out, Travis have nothing to do with that and they are not to blame. I think that on this tour they've been trying to play in cities they either haven't visited before or cities they haven't visited in a long time. I know you would all like to see them play somewhere near you (starting with me - a show in Lyon would be brilliant news) but they are not machines, they can't possibly please everyone or they'd have to tour to exhaustion. This has been brought up before but if the singles had had more airplay over here, the demand for shows might have been stronger. (Look at the Mexican fans - their enthusiasm got them another 3 shows...). No one here seems to know they have an album out. I've just heard Re-offender on the radio today and the DJ said it was taken from an album released 4 years ago but no mention was made of the new record... They're not done touring yet, so there's still hope for another French show in the coming months. They'll come back eventually, we just need to be patient. After all we had to wait for over two years for them to come back, we can wait a few more months... (they did play in Paris in January 2005 - and they played nowhere else in Europe. I bet the other European fans were gutted as well then). |

They did the Live8 gigs in 2005 I remember but that was funny to attend.
I don't hear the new album on radios here either but I believe it's the results of the poor marketing strategy mainly targeted on the american market. I listen to english radios and to be honest the new songs aren't played much more there either... |
