Bonjour travisland,
A few weeks ago I "announced" that we are extremely lucky and delighted to be expecting a baby for early march (invisible boy post)...it is now confirmed that it's a boy...so since the parenting theme appears to be highly demanded on the board I thought I could perhaps ask your ideas for a name...? I do like Clay but it's already taken! Seriously, my husband is english and I'm french so we want a name that sounds good in both language but it can be french or english...I've got to confess that we have a few names in mind but it would be great to see others with a "fresh" input for our "inspiration"...
Thanks in advance!! |

That's such good news.
Anyway, I really like Keir (sounds like Kerr when you say it) for a boy.
What names were you think of? |

Oooh thanks Tracey!!
Not sure I should mention our "names" for the moment as still a bit early since I'm only 4 months pregnant but will do later if it goes well.
I'm into english/scottish names it seems...
Have a nice week-end. |

We have bilingual kids with parents from two countries, so it was important that the kids' names are pronouncable and don't sound funny/strange in either language. |

If I had a boy now I would call him Gordon. Nothing spectacular but it would go great with my Mac.... surname. Apart from sounding ok in English and French I think the name should also sound good with your surname. :) |

Stéphane. It's the most beautiful French name I've ever heard. And it can easily become Stephen in English!
(Now tell me I wrote it correctly please!! I always get confused) |

It's perfectly acceptable there is a debate as to whether it's Steven or Stephen, ask Esteban, or Etienne or Stiofan or etc, etc.

You did!
Lovely, I like Etienne as well, a bit less common than Stéphane in France. |

Gordon I like it as well and I agree that it should sound nice with the surname. Are you married? I kept my maiden name and added my husband's name so the baby will have a double surname. That means I'm looking in fairly short first names. |
