hello

i saw idlewild in dean castle, near kilmarnock on saturday. it was an acoustic gig in the courtyard. it was really good, but freezing cold, i was applauding with my hands in my pockets lol

idlewild dean castle 26/5/07

no emotion
you held the world in your arms
when i argue i see shapes
you and i are both away
love steals us from loneliness
as if i hadn't slept
american english
bronze medal
jesus dont want me for a sunbeam (eugine kelly/nirvana cover)
live in a hiding place
not just sometimes but always
the weight of years
el capitan

everything (as it moves)
goodnight

One time I was "clapping in my pockets" too and I was asked to never, ever return to Kilmarnock's premiere castle and country park....

Is Roddy still doing his 'I'm a very serious musician' thing with plenty of loooooooooong guitar solos? Or has he finally realised we only like them when they thrash around and generally don't sound like REM?

i quite like it. it's a bit heavier than warnings/promises. it's got the feeling of something recorded v.quickly (took 6 weeks start to finish). i'd probably recommend a ghost in the arcade, in competition for the worst time and once in your life to have a listen to before buying it. it's a good live record too.
