The Eastern Hebrides are a personal favourite.
Like Shetland they're not on many maps though
EDIT: Alternately there's plenty of nice beaches on Skye for lazing about on, and for a night out Inverness is probably the most happening place at the moment. |

Ooooh!! Meow indeed ;)
Recommended to stay well away from is Paisley. Whilst not a bad town, it's reputation for Neds and Stabbings lets it down a lot. However, there are safe places- like the student's union, but unless you're a student there probably wouldn't be much point in that.
The west end of Glasgow (although i've only been a handful of times) is just lovely. Especially on a sunny day (which is rare- and the only time i'd go). Sit in Kelvingrove Park or take a dander along Great Western Road and Byres Road. Just lovely! |

Oh Kelvingrove Park is lovely indeed (we actually had sun when my friend and I visited in 2005). I really liked Glasgow, and the old town in Edinburgh (very medieval!). |

Thankyou for your lovely suggestions, Andy you know Scotland very well. I am thinking Edinburgh basically because I've been told it's a must-go-to city |
