My grandmother owned a store across from the high school in pecos texas. She carried a whole butt load of comic books. While most of the kids were hanging out at the pool, I spent my summers reading every comic book in the store while i worked the register. My favorite were the Archies and these teen romance comic books. Maybe that's why i'm not a big fan of romance novels. Els painted a comic strip-type painting about me...there's a technical name for it, but i have no idea. I love that painting. |

I posted first. You were always out at the pool getting darker than burnt toast, what are you talking about. I still have some of those romance comic books, i bought them on ebay.
Oooo yeah, the flying ants. Remember that 70s movie The Ants? That's what that dome thing in the middle of the Coachella festival reminded me of was the Empire of the Ants. The ants would make that calling noise and hypnotize you to go out to the dome and they'd attack you. I once had this dream, i still remember it, i dreamt that i had this pain in my leg and I looked down and all of a sudden, my leg started building this cone sort of looked like a volcano and it really hurt bad and i felt the pain in my sleep, well these ants started coming out of the hole it was horrible...i'll never forget that.
Els was really into mad magazine. She was a strange kid;) |

well Viz was a bit after you were a chisler yeah? s'okay thought because i feckin' loved that rag when i was working on the building sites in luuundarhn. biffah bacon and buster gonads were great stuff.
the greatest strip i ever read in there though was when i revisited the mag in later years, "Arse Farm". i was blunted oot me box and it had me in such stitches that it woke me Ma and Da.
ahhh, memories.
