I've been thinking...I've always admired travis but after seeing them in minneapolis i've decided that Andy is underrated as a guitar player...i mean he was FANTASTIC on sunday! I don't think the recordings do him justice.

Anyone agree? I'm sure you do. I was extremely impressed.

I agree that he is fantastic and doesn't get the recognition he deserves but I don't think for a moment it's the way they record. I think it just all blends together so well that you don't realize how amazing it is until you see them and can watch what each of them does that you appreciate how he is playing the snot out of the guitar, or the banjo (WHO else rocks it out on a banjo?!?!)

lol..yes, the banjo is a phenomenal touch.

I'm not trying to diminish the way the recordings sound...just noting that i was completley blown away! top notch stage presence, that's for sure.

In my book, Andy is the most underrated guitarist I've ever heard. He is a show in and of himself on the stage and after getting to stand in front of him Sunday night and then meet him afterwards, I am even more in awe of his skills and especially him being as humble as he is. And he wrote one of my favourite Travis songs, the Sea. Which makes him that much cooler. So yeah, I concur...he's a pretty righteous d00d. :o)

I agree completely! My boyfriend is pretty amazing on the guitar himself and even he was impressed with Andy's skills in Detroit. :)

Plus he does this for you when you're trying to take a picture of him:

I know! My friend, Robyn, who was standing directly to my right during the show was like, "I can't believe how many times he posed for pictures for you!" lol

GREAT shot, btw!

i only had to shout his name and wave, and he gave me a little wink! that wouldn't happen anywhere at another gig

My husband was most impressed by his banjo playing! Who knew he was such a hick?! (my husband that is, not Andy) http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/froehlich/a055.gif
