I took way too many to post them all here, and I horrible at culling out photos. You're all welcome to see the entire album and you're more than welcome to use the "share" button and post them anywhere you'd like.

Fantastic shots!!!!!! I'm not sure if you've seen mine (which you can see here), but a few of the shots here look like they were taken at almost the same moment (Fran and Dougie leaning against each other, Dougie and Andy talking to each other).
I think I saw you after the show as well.... weren't you the girl offering to take pictures for the girls whose camera ran out of batteries? If so, I noticed you had a fairly "pro" looking camera.. Did they give you any trouble at the door? I wanted badly to bring my DSLR, but 9:30 Club said no professional cameras would be allowed in, and anything with a removable lens or camera that looked "pro" would be considered pro. I was stuck using a point-and-shoot, which doesn't give nearly as much control :)
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm JEALOUS! I wish I'd have been able to get in with my DSLR so I could've hopefully gotten some shots as good as yours! They've got great depth of field and clarity. Impressive! |

Heroboy,
You did an awesome job with a point and shoot, really nice post work too! I had checked on the 9:30 club website prior to the show, but I didn't see anything in the FAQs section regarding SLRs. I actually had my D50, the kit lens, 50mm 1.8 (which I used for all my shots), the 70-200 2.8 VR. The guy checking bags almost had a heart attack, but the big guy with the tattoos and earrings said I was okay if I left the 50mm on. Even so, towards the end of the concert some security guy came up to me and asked to see my camera. I told him what the other guy said and he went to check. I didn't see him again, so I assume he was satisfied with what the big guy said.
I don't even own a point and shoot anymore. I have my Nikon dSLR and an ancient Canon film SLR. I don't really understand why they won't allow "pro" cameras in when ours at least, can't take video. Not really sure why that's bad either though?
Also, yes that was me taking photos for the two girls whose batteries died. I posted those photos in the general thread. :) I saw some of yours posted under the recent venues area, I'm going to get around to posting some but it's so hard to choose just a few.
Thanks again for the compliments, the nifty-fifty lenses are great, cheap little fellas. :) |

Wow heroboy and Phyxius. I've been enjoying both of your work. Amazing how we all took shots at almost the same moments from different angles and with different cameras. The boyfriend has both of my cameras on vacation right now so I got stuck with the teeny compact point and shoot, but it did well enough.

As for the whole "pro photography" thing, it really depends on who is working at the door. There's a couple of pretty nice guys there, but if you are bringing in a huge 300mm (which my boyfriend has somehow managed to in there before) or a couple of lenses they are going to bust you. I've been about 50/50 with bringing in my canon 30D with just the 50mm, but again-it depends on who is working the door.
Now if you want to talk about a venue in DC that will get on you for your camera, try bringing one to the Velvet Lounge on U street. Yikes.
