Hey all

I have always wondered, who chooses the songs that play over the sound system when you are waiting for a band to come on - is it the band? or their management, or the venue?

Because at the Westonbirt gig a couple of weeks back, we heard in a row (but perhaps not in this order):

Doves - Catch the Sun
The Beatles - Here comes the Sun (which Travis did as a cover a few years back)
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset

See the thene?? I just wondered if they chose these because of the whole rain thing, and to keep off the bad weather!!!

The best pre-gig songs were played on their UK tour in 2002!! And Doves were supporting. That was cool stuff.

Doves were fucking terrible when they played Birmingham NIA with Travis, they had to restart Catch The Sun twice.

Same songs at the Waterfront in Belfast. 'Honaloochie Coochie Boogie' by Mott The Hoople was in there too. I think it must be the band, because i remember hearing Rockin in the Free World by Neil Young at a Barrowlands gigging and thinking 'i wonder did Neil have anything to do with that...'

Wish i could remember some others from before the gig!

My mum was a big Mott The Hoople fan when she was younger so surprised shs didn't mention that one, think we were just too excited about the band coming on!

My Mum didn't notice that one either. Don't know if it was Honaloochie Coochie Boogie, but anyway. Great song name! :D

Oh dear =S They sounded bad at Wembley Arena but so did Travis, so I just put it to the sound system there. At Docklands Arena, they were a lot better.
