A Danish tv-series in four parts called The Kingdom. Stephen King made it into an American series, and a very diluted one too.
The original is very VERY scary and should not be watched when you're home alone, no matter what age you are. |

"The silence of the lambs"
went there thinking it was a "little house in the prairie" kind of story.
slept with all lights on for like 3 weeks afterwards. |

you guys ought to watch "La feline" by Jacques Tourneur.
its english title is "Cat people" and is a master piece.

Paul Schrader remade it in 1982 with Nastassja Kinski but it's not as brilliant as the original version. |

scary movies are supposed to scare, aren't they ?
used to watch "ciné club" at my parents home when i was a teenager - it was broadcasted around midnight on friday night and they sometimes had "Scary cycles"...the kind that i'd watched glued to my seat, unable to move...
I'm taking about Murnau films and "The hounds of Zaroff" - black and white films that are master-piece

"Seven" was probably the last decent scary movie after "silence of the lambs".

it says in the review that this movie is hard to find. the company that owns the rights needs to get the finger out and release this on DVD.
hmmm, however i remember too that i thought the television mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's "Salem's Lot" was REALLY scary when i was younger - but a few years back i got it out on video and found it to be not so scary, 'course jones made so much fun of me. |

Can't remember what it's called but there was a film from the 60s or 70s with a meteor shower, then everyone who watched it was blind and these moving plants grew out of the craters and killed everyone. "Night of the something" maybe
Was young when I saw it. Flippin' 'eck.
Papillon and the mad woman in Jane Eyre also unsettled me.
All when I was ickle. |

hmmm can't seem to remember that particular one but it does sound creepy for a kid to be watching.
i'm surprised why "Papillon" freaked you out, was it the whole penal colony situation? |
