The reviews are mixed and some call it a step backwards.I hope Travis will make a killer album for 2012 or 2013 that will be praised by critics.

What's your opinion about the new Keane album is it truly bad?

If a step back is the fact that it's more like Hopes and Fears than some of the more recent albums, then yes, but personally I don't mind that at all. In other words, I quite like the new album.

Sea Fog sounds a bit like Coldplay, which is slightly disturbing, but generally I enjoy listening to it. I've heard it some 10 times by now… ;^)

I hate to say this, but I feel with Keane (Post Hopes and Fears), as I do with many modern pop-bands, that they try to sound grand on the surface, but the songs are actually too messy without any substance, like they're trying to get somewhere, but never hit the mark.

Now I've listened to the whole album and it left me unforfilled, I can't remember a single track that I've liked more, just a wall of messy ideas, boring production and "oooohs". Sorry Keane, but I don't feel your music anymore :(

I saw them perform Silenced By The Night on the Graham Norton show - a distinctly underwhelming song IMO.

Just listening to the album on Spotify and I don't hear much H&F influence, except perhaps Sea Fog. I'm interchanging with tracks from H&F and each song on there sounds different, thus making them memorable, there's quite a few tracks on Strangeland which sound the same to me.

I remember H&F was the first demo album I got when on student radio at Uni ... loved it from the moment I heard it. I associate Keane with crescendos and I don't hear many on the new album. For me, they can never top Bedshaped.

Had to check which are the bonus tracks, as I've got the deluxe version, and yes, the bonus tracks are up there enhancing the whole listening experience. Even the title track is an extra!

I just listened H&F after a long break, and it really outshines the new album. What I meant in my first message was that the new music is closer to H&F than to the disco and rap stuff they've come out with recently.

For me it sounds fantastic! I've listened to the deluxe edition about 20 times, and the 4 additional songs really do complete this album. "The Boys" is great, very refreshing, and my favorite song on the album is "The Starting Line"!!! It makes me almost cry...

They continued to develop, the words sound more adult (maybe they sound different in my 44 years old ears??). H+F is their best album (I agree with you ref. Bedshaped!!!), but S *g* Strangeland is very close to it, for me their second best.

Still got to buy it yet, but after average reviews I'm not really rushing for it. Hopes & Fears and Under The Iron Sea are two favourite albums of mine. Perfect Symmetry was often a case of style over substance, although I appreciate the fact they did something different. But the couple of tracks I've heard from Strangeland definitely sound underwhelming - the first album was packed with melody and feeling, and I can't help but suspect this one, well, isn't going to be. But if it's on Spotify then I will check it out very soon!

Myth,Strangeland,Disconnected,Seafog and It's not true are the songs that I loved. That line where in Tom Chaplin sings "Every atom of my heart is missing you" SOUNDS CHEESY but I like it.
